Ruckman Todd Goldstein, who in 2015 won North's best and fairest award and All Australian selection, paid tribute to Ishchenko's role in his development.

"I'm indebted to Alex and the work he's done with me over the journey," Goldstein said.

"His experience and knowledge of the ruck craft and the game has been invaluable.

"He's helped me through so many periods in my career since becoming ruck coach in 2010 and I'm sad to see him go."
