Just weeks after claiming the 2012 premiership, the Sydney Swans have moved quickly to freshen their list.

Brett Meredith, Nathan Gordon, Mark Seaby and 2012 leadership group member Jarred Moore were all delisted during the trading period, along with rookies Eugene Kruger, Jack Lynch and Dylan McNeil.

Mark Seaby will play in the WAFL next year if he can't find another AFL team.

"There's one or two clubs that have shown some interest but typically in trade week there's a lot of a discussion and it doesn't always eventuate," Seaby's manager Wayne Loxley said.

"If [an AFL club] is not in the offering, he'll settle back in Western Australia and play with West Perth.

"His first priority would be if there's a club that's keen to have him join them, he would seriously consider it but if that's not the case, he'll be back in Perth with his wife and baby and get on with the next phase of his life."

Ruckman Mark Seaby has been dumped from the Swans along with four teammates including Jarred Moore and rookie-listed players Eugene Kruger, Jack Lynch and Dylan McNeil.

Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has confirmed that Port Adelaide has shown interest in ruckman Mark Seaby during trade week.

"He is probably one who has been a little bit affected by the sub rule, I guess," Longmire said.

"Port have shown some interest but we just have to wait through that as well. It hasn't progressed too far as yet."

Sydney Swans ruckman Mark Seaby is aiming to return from injury for his club's NAB Cup campaign next month.

"It's easy to get frustrated when you have a few little setbacks along the way, but fortunately I haven't had too many of those," Seaby said.

"I came to the realisation that I had to get my rehab right, I've done that now and hopefully I'll be right for the rest of the season."

Swans ruckman Mark Seaby is hoping for a change of luck in 2011 with regards to injuries.

"I wouldn't say it was an extremely disappointing sort of year, what with being in Sydney and being at the Swans, and enjoying the success that the team had throughout the year," Seaby said.

"Looking back now, it does give me confidence that I can pick up that form again and start playing good footy when the season comes around. I'll just have to draw on that and hopefully start well again."

Sydney Swans ruckman Mark Seaby will have ankle surgery next week, ruling him out for the season.

"This is related to a pre-existing condition in Mark's ankle and he'll have an operation next week to remove bone spurs from the ankle joint," club physiotherapist Matt Cameron said.

"I've never really taken on Dean in a full-on contest so I think it's a challenge I've been looking forward to for a while," Seaby said.

"I've learned a lot from Dean. Training against him is probably where I've learned my most and hopefully I've learned a few new tricks I can try."

Sydney Swans ruckman Mark Seaby says he is growing in confidence now he is getting more opportunities after struggling to become a regular at West Coast.

"There weren't really doubts in my mind but my confidence was definitely down a bit," he said.

"I feel like I'm starting to regain a bit of that now and I can go at the highest level again, because it has been a while since I've had a game."

Mark Seaby's desire to join the Swans was driven by the prospect of becoming the club's first-choice big man.

"They were very interested from the start. They said they could see a role for me at the club, so I'm very happy to be here," he said of the Swans.

"Initially it looked like I was going to be playing alongside Darren Jolly and that would have been great, but obviously with his move to Collingwood, there's an opportunity there to be the No. 1 ruckman."

West Coast, the Sydney Swans and the Lions look to have arranged for four players to change clubs.

Amon Buchanan and Brent Staker will head to Brisbane, Sydney will acquire Mark Seaby while the Eagles are set to gain Brad Dalziell.

"It's a good opportunity for him (Buchanan). We had some discussion with him at the end of the year - both us and Amon were undecided - should he stay at Sydney or should he go," Sydney coach Paul Roos said.

"He's a premiership player and a fantastic player, but probably his past couple of years he's been battling a little bit.

"Brisbane was interested, so we were happy to facilitate that, which means we can get Seaby in."

West Coast premiership ruckman Mark Seaby will be considered for Saturday's clash with the Western Bulldogs even though he will probably leave the club at season's end.

"Seabs is still a very valuable member of our team," Eagles coach John Worsfold said.

"We'll consider playing him this week looking at what we're going up against."

West Coast coach John Worsfold says he still has faith in Mark Seaby's ability as a part-time forward, despite the ruckman's humble round one performance against the Brisbane Lions.

Seaby provided good back up for ruckman Dean Cox but failed to have an impact when pushed forward, taking two marks and failing to trouble the scorers with his nine touches.

Worsfold said Seaby's spot in the side for this week's clash with Port Adelaide had not been discussed yet, adding that the expectations on his back-up big man were "a little bit over the top at times".

"We're pretty happy with his ruck work. In terms of the time he spent up forward he didn't deliver what we believe he can deliver," Worsfold said.
