Former Western Bulldogs ruckman Wayde Skipper is in line for elevation after Hawk Simon Taylor was placed on the long-term injury list.

A fractured fibula may see Simon Taylor miss up to four months.

"Simon underwent surgery this morning to have a plate inserted to repair a fractured fibula," Hawthorn's general manager of football operations Mark Evans said said.

"Doctors have advised it will be two months until Simon can resume activity and it will be around four months until he will be available to play again."

Simon Taylor and Brad Sewell were casualties of a 40-point thumping by North Melbourne on Saturday.

Taylor hurt his ankle after falling awkwardly in a collision while Sewell has a suspected collarbone injury and was seen after the game with his right arm in a sling.

Simon Taylor says he will not curb his aggressive style of play to ensure he doesn't make any more trips to the tribunal.

"I don't really go out there and think of the tribunal at all. I've got to go out there and play an aggressive, physical game. That second one got thrown out because there wasn't much in it. It was something a little bit silly I did in that first game," he said.

Simon Taylor will contest his rough conduct charge, risking an extra week's ban at the tribunal.
