Leroy Jetta Biography

Wednesday, 22 October 2014

The Bombers announce that Kyle Hardingham, Sean Gregory and Johnny Rayner will not be offered new contracts for next season, while small forward Leroy Jetta recently told the club that he wanted to explore his options via free agency.

"The club would like to thank all four men for their contribution and dedication during their time at Essendon," general manager of football operations Robb Kerr said.

"On behalf of everyone at the club we wish them every success in the future, both on and off the field."

With the restricted and unrestricted free agency period closed as of 5pm Sunday, former Bomber Leroy Jetta, former Saint Clint Jones, and Port Adelaide utility Tom Logan remain the only players on the free agent list who want to play on but are yet to be contracted for 2015.

Those three players will now have to hope to be picked up during the delisted free agency period, which begins on November 1.

Sunday, 7 September 2014

Leroy Jetta is set to explore his options through free agency after parting ways with Essendon.

Jetta has played only 10 games in the past two years, including two in 2014, and was not contracted for 2015.

"It is a difficult decision to move on after eight years at Essendon but the time is right to look for new opportunities elsewhere," Jetta said on the Essendon website.

"I'vee been lucky enough to play under some terrific coaches, including James Hird and Mark Thompson, and I would like to thank everyone at the Essendon Football Club for the support they have shown me, especially my teammates."

Essendon forward Leroy Jetta escapes a suspension for a rough conduct charge against Sydney's Ben McGlynn with an early plea.

Thursday, 11 October 2012

Midfielder David Myers and forward Leroy Jetta have penned new two-year deals with Essendon.

"We're a close group, and I want to be a part of this team, because I think we can achieve great things together," Jetta said.

Bomber Leroy Jetta is charged with unsportsmanlike staging.

"Leroy Jetta falls to the ground and then holds his face and we believe this is unsportsmanlike in nature and that he's worthy of a charge of staging," AFL Match Review Panel chairman Mark Fraser said.

Tuesday, 27 March 2012

Essendon's Leroy Jetta is excited about the prospect of heading to the backline this season.

"I really enjoyed playing there in the NAB Cup and hopefully I get to play there again soon," he said.

"I think if I can't get a kick up forward then they can try me out in the backline, and I can play a bit like Courtenay Dempsey and try to run off and use my skills."

Monday, 4 October 2010

Talkes with new coach James Hird have encouraged midfielder Leroy Jetta to re-sign with Essendon, according to an online report.

"Leroy met with James twice and said that his discussions with James were sensational and he wanted to be a part of the re-birth of Essendon as a club," Jetta's manager, Colin Young, said.

"We had discussed going back to Western Australia but I guess the changes at Windy Hill were something Leroy wanted to be a part of going forward."

Monday, 1 March 2010

Essendon's Leroy Jetta will be out of action for up to six weeks with a thumb injury which he dislocated during a practice match between the reserve grade Essendon and Richmond sides.

"Obviously there is a period following the operation where you can't do much because you can't allow for the extra bleeding and things, but once it has settled down he can join in and run around and build it up from there," Essendon's general manager of football operations Paul Hamilton said.

"It is most disappointing from the perspective that he is a player that knows this is an important year for him and he wanted to get off to a good start and unfortunately it hasn't happened for him."
