Port Adelaide ruckman Brent Renouf will miss the remainder of 2014 after undergoing knee surgery, while defender Campbell Heath is only a chance to return in 2014 after his own knee operation. The pair were injured in the club's SANFL win last Saturday. Renouf underwent a procedure to repair a ruptured patella tendon in his left knee, while Heath had LARS surgery after rupturing the ACL in his right knee. "It's a real shame for Brent as he'd strung a whole heap of games together and was looking good,'' Power high performance manager Darren Burgess said. "[Heath] was pretty keen to go with the LARS as he's had some success with that in the past."

Port Adelaide upgrades rookie ruckman Brent Renouf to its senior list, allowing it to take two ruckmen into its season opener against Carlton. "Brent has had a few of his own fitness issues, but as we didn't need to upgrade him for him to play during the NAB Challenge, we were able to monitor how he went in pre-season games," Power football operations manager Peter Rohde said. "Now we're able to consider him for selection."

The Power delist Brent Renouf but hopes to re-draft him as a rookie in the coming draft. "We thought the best thing for him was just to concentrate on getting his body right and know that the club is going to commit to him and give him the best chance, and not just with next year but continuing on after that," Power coach Ken Hinkley said.

Brent Renouf says knee surgery has affected his form this year but hopes to be stronger for it in 2014. "I've been able to play 13 or 14 games of footy at either SANFL or AFL level and the surgeon said I might only play about 12 games this year, so I'm already ahead of where I should be," Renouf said. "You're always going to get frustrated, but I've just had to take it on the chin this year and realise that's what's going to happen. "It's just being able to get through this year and then through a strong pre-season and then perform week in, week out next year."

Port Adelaide recruit Brent Renouf says he and fellow ruckman Matthew Lobbe can work in tandem next season. "I don't think there's any of that anymore. We'll be working as a good partnership this year," Renouf said. "Lobbe came along pretty strongly in the last half of this year and I think I might just slide in and give him a chop out and we'll work well together as a partnership."

Ruckman Brent Renouf has been traded to Port Adelaide for a second round draft pick. "Brent fits exactly into the age profile that we are building our next premiership team around," Power football operations manager Peter Rohde said. "We think we've got a unique upside with Brent, who is young, but with a mature body and valuable experience that we can build on for a long time to come."
Port Adelaide's football operations manager Peter Rhode is excited by the signing of Brent Renouf who he believes will work well with youngster Matthew Lobbe. "Matthew Lobbe played some pretty good footy for us in the second half of the year but with only one ruckman, invariably he got worn down," Rohde said. "We really feel as though we need two ruckmen to be able to share the load evenly to give our young midfield a chance. They're similar ages, [have] similar experience, [and] we think the two of them can come through together and be a really good combination for us."

Brent Renouf undergoes surgery to remove his gall bladder and the Hawks will take a cautious approach towards his recovery. "He is expected to make a full recovery, although it will be a number of weeks before Brent can return to any strenuous running activities," the Hawks said in a statement. "The club will take a very cautious approach in regards to Brent's return to football. This procedure is not uncommon, most patients recover well and have no ongoing health issues."

Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf is ruled out of the side for several weeks as he recovers in hospital from a bruised liver after copping a heavy knock to the stomach against Geelong. "The good news is that he's not in any imminent danger and hopefully he can come out of hospital (today), but we will be very careful with him," Hawks football manager Mark Evans said.

Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf has signed a contract that will tie him to the Hawks until the end of 2012. Hawthorn has received an official warning for Brent Renouf's late withdrawal from their game against North Melbourne in Launceston. "While the AFL found that Hawthorn did not act for tactical reasons, Renouf's replacement was not in compliance with guidelines issued by the AFL," the league said in a statement.

Hawthorn await a decision from the AFL on whether they will be fined for Brent Renouf's last-minute withdrawal from their game against North Melbourne. Kangaroos coach Brad Scott had expressed his displeasure at the late withdrawal saying that it had thrown his match-planning into disarray. "When Luke Hodge is playing in the ruck, that changes things significantly," Scott said. "He's a dangerous player at the best of times. When there's such a significant change and he's playing on a really big guy and someone who's not as mobile, it changes things."
Sunday, 25 April 2010
Brent Renouf is a late withdrawal from the Hawks' side to face the Kangaroos leaving Hawthorn shorthanded in the ruck department. "We tried to warm him up and just see what he'd be like because we were reasonably surprised how well he was at lunchtime today," Clarkson said. "But once he got out there and did the warm-up he was no good, which sort of put us in a pickle. We haven't got too many rucks as it is and the one we have got wasn't able to get himself up to play."

Hawthorn ruckman Brent Renouf has had a setback in his recovery from burns suffered in a New Year's Eve beach accident. "Part of the graft wasn't healing as well as they would have liked so they decided that it was best to fix it straight away and re-graft that part. The original burn was about the size of the palm of your hand," Hawthorn football manager Mark Evans said.

Hawk goalkicker Jarryd Roughead didn't mind his stint in the ruck against North Melbourne, but says his shins took a pounding. The absence of Hawthorn's primary ruckmen due to injury left Hawk big man Brent Renouf to ruck virtually unaided all afternoon against the Kangaroos, until Roughead stepped up in the second half. "I don't mind it. It's a little bit different and I might have to go out and buy a shin-guard but I don't think I will because I don't pull my socks up, so not to worry," Roughead said. "It's a bit different. It makes it good when the circle is only small because I get a couple of steps and run and jump, so it's not too bad."
