Jarryd Allen Biography

A hip injury forces Jarryd Allen to announce his retirement from football at just 21 years of age.

"When I had all the information in front of me, it was pretty clear as to what decision I had to make," Allen said.

"I was told that the problem would only continue to get worse and I have made the decision to retire with a heavy heart, but also with a long term view to my future quality of life. I didn't want to face the prospect of having a plastic hip at age 21."

With his AFL career in its infancy, Jarryd Allen's injury curse struck again and may keep him out till 2010.
