North Melbourne has agreed to trade Matt Campbell, agreeing it is best for the 79-game Roo to find a new club.

"Like the other players, we will have to wait until the trade period is over before we confirm anything."

North Melbourne small forward Matt Campbell is arrested after an incident at Crown Casino.

"We've been advised Matthew Campbell was asked to leave Crown Casino at about 1am but upon refusing, he had to be removed by security," North interim chief executive Cam Vale said.

"Matt is then alleged to have damaged a parked car belonging to a casino staff member. Matt was detained until police arrived and was later interviewed and released.

"We know Matt was drinking prior to the incident and we are bitterly disappointed with his behaviour. We are still to determine the next course of action regarding a club-imposed sanction."

Matt Campbell says he contemplated leaving the club at the end of 2011.

"I just think you get a bit frustrated with injuries and you start to wonder whether a fresh start is the thing for you," Campbell said.

"But through the whole of trade week my heart remained at North. I was still talking to North and still trying to nut the details out. My first priority was to sign with North Melbourne and I ending up getting the (two-year) deal."

Wednesday, 19 October 2011

North Melbourne's Michael Firrito and Matt Campbell have received contract extensions.

"Mick has a terrific opportunity to assume more leadership responsibility with the retirement of Brady Rawlings," chief of football Donald McDonald said about Firrito's signing.

"We're extremely pleased to have Matty re-sign with the club for another two seasons. For him personally it's a great opportunity to build on his strong finish to the year following some bad luck with injuries."

Several Kangaroos players including Aaron Edwards, Shannon Grant and Hamish McIntosh are involved in an altercation with security and police.

Edwards, in particular, is reported to have been significantly drunk and will face disciplinary action by the club.

Another Kangaroo, Matt Campbell, was charged with resisting arrest and being drunk in public in an unrelated incident.
