Collingwood has locked in its 2020 coaching panel, with Matthew Boyd and Garry Hocking accepting new roles and former Cat Scott Selwood joining the team. Selwood, 29, who left the Cats after four injury-riddled seasons and a total of 169 AFL games, has taken up a role in the Magpies' development academy. Matthew Boyd, who spent his first two seasons developing the Pies' youngsters and working with the club's VFL team, will step up to take charge of team defence and the backline. The Western Bulldogs 2016 premiership star will attempt to fill the significant hole left by Justin Longmuir, who has been appointed coach of Fremantle. Garry Hocking, previously the Pies' stoppage coach, will lead the club's VFL program following the departure of Jared Rivers to North Melbourne.

Geelong will not offer Scott Selwood a contract for 2020. Selwood battled hamstring issues for much of 2019 and was restricted to just two appearances late in the season. The 29-year-old departs the Cats having played 34 matches over four seasons since arriving from the Eagles at the end of the 2015 season. "Scott has been a much-loved member of the club over his four years here. The way in which he has conducted himself on and off the field, has earned him great respect from his teammates and coaches," Geelong football boss Simon Lloyd said. "Scott is always welcome at the club, and we wish him well in his future endeavours. We hope to see a new opportunity come his way in football as he has a lot to offer."

Joel Selwood will captain Geelong for an eighth season in 2019. Selwood will be joined by All Australian defender Tom Stewart in Geelong's seven-man leadership group, which sees Scott Selwood fall out. Dual best and fairest Mark Blicavs has been elevated to co-vice-captain alongside Patrick Dangerfield, the pair retaining their positions on the panel with Mitch Duncan and Zach Tuohy. 2018 deputy vice-captain Harry Taylor relinquishes his title, however remains in the group.

Lindsay Thomas is hit with a three-game suspension for his bump on Geelong midfielder Scott Selwood that left the Cat concussed. Thomas had also earlier accepted a one-match ban for striking Selwood's elder brother, Joel Selwood, moments after the initial clash, which was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the head, which means the 30-year-old will be out for the next four rounds.
Joel Selwood is free to play after the AFL Tribunal overturned his one-match suspension for striking Port Adelaide forward Lindsay Thomas. Selwood told the Tribunal he had approached Thomas immediately after the Port forward bumped his brother, Scott Selwood, with the sole intention of telling him he had committed an "effing dog act". The Cats star conceded he had made contact with Thomas' head with his left fist, but only after the Power player pulled him down by his jumper. Selwood also argued he had merely "brushed" Thomas, with the force insufficient to constitute a strike.

Joel Selwood will captain Geelong for a seventh-straight season and is set to become the longest-serving skipper in the club's 159-year history. Selwood will lead a seven-man leadership group with Patrick Dangerfield again appointed as vice-captain and key defender Harry Taylor to act as deputy vice-captain. Mark Blicavs, Mitch Duncan and Scott Selwood will continue in their leadership roles, while defender Zach Tuohy has been voted into the group in his second year at the club.

Scott Selwood looks set to start the season on the sidelines for the third straight year after undergoing ankle surgery. Selwood underwent an arthroscopy on his right ankle after experiencing pain and stiffness since returning to training following the Christmas break. "The decision for surgery was made as the club’s medical staff believe it will give Scott the best chance of missing minimal football going forward," football manager Simon Lloyd said in a club statement.

Joel Selwood will lead Geelong once again after the club announced at its season launch on Wednesday night he would be Cats captain for the sixth consecutive season in 2017. The 28-year-old's brother, Scott Selwood, will join him in the eight-man leadership group for the first time with 24-year-old Cam Guthrie also making his debut in the group. Harry Taylor, Patrick Dangerfield, Tom Hawkins, Mitch Duncan and Mark Blicavs round out the Cats' leadership group for the year.

Geelong recruit Scott Selwood will wear his new colours for the first time this week after being cleared to play in the VFL following a long recovery from a serious ankle injury. Selwood has had multiple surgeries including late last year and the Cats have been patient with his build-up to playing again but he is finally set to go this Saturday. "I'm just looking forward to playing footy again. I haven't for nearly 12 months now," Selwood said. "I'm just looking forward to going out there and trying to get a kick and enjoying it, and looking forward to getting some lactic in the body and feeling like a footy player again."
Tuesday, 28 June 2016
Forgotten Geelong recruit Scott Selwood is set to represent the Cats for the first time in the VFL after the bye after recovering from an ankle injury. "Scott Selwood's ready to go. He's pencilled in for a return game after the bye," Geelong head physio Mark Young said. "All indications are he's training well and looking comfortable."
Friday, 26 February 2016
Scott Selwood concedes he is unlikely to line up against Hawthorn in round one, with the Geelong recruit not eyeing a return until the early rounds of the premiership season. "It's slowly coming along, it's probably a little bit slower than what I would've liked, and at this stage I'm pretty much no chance for round one now," Selwood told 3AW radio. "I'm looking to go a few rounds into the season and try to get back into the team then."

Scott Selwood is confident that surgery will fix his troublesome right ankle, despite a failed reconstruction hampering his football over the past two seasons. Selwood isn't expected to start full pre-season training until after Christmas, but said the operation should get him back to his best. "Two years ago I played the Saints and unfortunately rolled my ankle and we went in for an ankle reconstruction half-way through last year," Selwood said. "We probably didn’t do it successfully with the surgery, it didn't quite work out, and we battled through until this year and had a couple of clean-ups along the way. "But we finally went in and gave into it all and said we need to start again with it. "It's a pretty simple operation and simple recovery - hopefully this time we get it right."
Tuesday, 13 October 2015
Geelong's newest recruit Scott Selwood will not be able to join full pre-season training until after Christmas due to a third bout of ankle surgery. "I'm hoping this is the last little bit of it and hopefully I'll have a fresh start and get ready to go," Selwood said. "(I'll) probably be right to train early in the New Year."

Scott Selwood will play with Geelong in 2016 after West Coast decided not to match the Cats' offer for the restricted free agent. "I can confirm that we won't be matching and we wish Scott all the very best with his pursuits at Geelong," West Coast football manager Craig Vozzo said. "Scott has been a terrific servant of our footy club and we were really keen to retain him, but we understand the reasons for his decision. "And while we're very disappointed, we wish him all the best with his future endeavours down at Geelong."
West Coast chief executive Trevor Nisbett lashes out at the AFL after receiving only a second-round draft pick as compensation for losing restricted free agent Scott Selwood to Geelong. "Why have restricted free agency and free agency compensation if you are to be treated with such disrespect?" Nisbett said. "The West Coast Eagles has been the home of Scott Selwood for eight years and he is approaching the prime of his career at 25 years of age. "He was our vice-captain, he has been trained up by the club and we need to replace him. "Geelong has spoken about the leadership qualities Scott brings and we know that. "We think we acted in a totally professional manner in allowing Scott to go to Geelong, the club of his choice, for a number of compelling reasons and his value has only been judged on how much money he gets paid. "The AFL will say that we had the right to match the offer, and yes we did, but it was not in the interests of the player or the club. The level of compensation for losing our vice-captain is totally inadequate."
Saturday, 10 October 2015
West Coast coach Adam Simpson says he has reluctantly given Scott Selwood his blessing to return home to Geelong. "The heart wants what the heart wants and you've got to appreciate how tough it's been for him and his family," Simpson told the 1000-strong crowd at the Eagles' club champion awards at Crown Perth. "But if your heart wants to go home we need to appreciate that. "We really appreciate all the service you've given our club over the years, you're a best and fairest winner and you go with our blessing but it's with a heavy heart."
Friday, 9 October 2015
Scott Selwood formally requests a move to Geelong as a restricted free agent. The Cats have officially tabled an offer for Selwood, with the Eagles having 72 hours to decide whether to match the offer and force a potential trade. If the Eagles do not match the offer, they will be in line for free agency compensation.

Being overlooked for the Grand Final will have no bearing on Scott Selwood's thinking as he decides whether to stay at West Coast or join elder brother Joel at Geelong, according to his manager Tom Petroro. "Scott has had a really difficult year with injuries. A procedure that they performed early in the pre-season didn't probably relieve him of the pain that he was going through, so he was always up against it to get back," Petroro said "His non-selection in the Grand Final will have no bearing on his decision."
Wednesday, 2 September 2015
Scott Selwood says he is hopeful he can stay at West Coast despite strong rumours that he is set to join Geelong next year. The Eagles vice-captain has endured another difficult year with ankle problems stemming from the initial injury to his right ankle last season. He has played just 12 senior matches so far this year, the same number as last season, and has been the starting sub in four of those 12 games. "I love this footy club and I love representing the jumper. We're in a good spot at the moment," Selwood said. "It hasn't really been on the forefront of my mind even though there's been rumours swirling. I've just been focused on trying to get my ankle right and dealing with that. "Once I get through that, we'll make a decision and I'm sure it'll be hopefully the right one and I'll hopefully continue with the Eagles."
Wednesday, 12 August 2015
West Coast has confirmed it has put off contract negotiations with Scott Selwood until the end of the year, increasing the likelihood that he will depart the club in the off-season. The vice-captain is rumoured to be seriously considering a move to Geelong in this year's free agency period to join older brother and Cats skipper Joel at Simonds Stadium. "He's in a position now where we're not going to even think about talking to him now - he needs to get himself right for the ongoing finals campaign," West Coast CEO Trevor Nisbett said. "We'll leave that until the end of the year and have a chat to him straight after the season."
Thursday, 30 July 2015
West Coast coach Adam Simpson says he has not pressed vice-captain Scott Selwood about his contract, but remains hopeful he will be at the Eagles next season. "He's a best and fairest winner, he's our vice-captain and he's an important part of our side," Simpson said. "We've had conversations, but nothing too deep. To be honest it's been more about form and his body. "He'll make that [contract] decision when he needs to, and I'll let you know when he does."
Tuesday, 14 April 2015
Scott Selwood is ruled out for four to six weeks with an ankle injury. "It's a pretty big blow," Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui said. "He's obviously one of the leaders of the club. He does play a massive role in the midfield for us."
Saturday, 14 March 2015
Scott Selwood makes a surprise playing return on Friday night, lining up for East Perth in a WAFL pre-season match against South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval.
Tuesday, 10 February 2015
West Coast coach Adam Simpson says Scott Selwood's decision to put his contract negotiations on hold is not a distraction for the team. "He's an honest man and we believe the instructions he's given the club and we'll back him in to make the right decision. He's our vice captain and I'm not too concerned," Simpson said. "My communication mainly with Scott is about getting him back to play. The rest of that stuff, his contract and those sorts of things, will take care of itself."
Thursday, 5 February 2015
Scott Selwood has deferred contract talks with West Coast so he can focus on overcoming the ankle injury that derailed his 2014 season.
Tuesday, 17 June 2014
Scott Selwood's season is all but over after West Coast opted to send the 24-year-old midfielder in for ankle surgery. The Eagles' vice-captain went under the knife Tuesday and is expected to miss 10-12 weeks. There is a slim chance he could be available if West Coast makes the finals.
Monday, 16 June 2014
West Coast is weighing up whether or not to send vice-captain Scott Selwood for surgery to fix his troublesome ankle. Selwood was withdrawn from Saturday's win over Gold Coast with an ankle issue after initially being named. Eagles coach Adam Simpson revealed after the match that Selwood had been carrying the injury since round three and that is was far more severe than first thought. "He's going to need a clean-up at some stage," Simpson said. "We're just trying to figure out when the best time is. We are quite depleted in some areas in our midfield so we're just still assessing that."
Sunday, 15 June 2014
Scott Selwood could spend an extended period on the sidelines after Eagles coach Adam Simpson revealed his ankle injury is worse than first thought. Selwood is in a bit of trouble," Simpson said. "I think his foot is worse than what we hoped it would be. He'll miss multiple weeks. "It's ankle related. There's something there that he's been carrying and probably his brave attitude towards it has probably hurt it a little bit because he's been carrying it since round three."
Monday, 24 June 2013
Shannon Hurn and Scott Selwood face extended stints on the sidelines after the pair were injured in the Eagles' clash against Hawthorn. Hurn is set to miss eight weeks due to an injured ankle which will require surgery while Selwood has a suspected broken thumb.
Tuesday, 5 February 2013
Eagles coach John Worsfold says recruit Sharrod Wellingham could share a run-with role with Scott Selwood in 2013. "It gives us a bit more flexibility for sure," Worsfold told 6PR. "Scott Selwood was still having some tight run-with roles last year. We can free him up at times and use Sharrod in that role. "[We can] still use Scotty, because he's shown he can play that role and win the footy himself …. but we certainly think we can use Sharrod and swap him up."
Saturday, 6 October 2012
Scott Selwood has beaten a strong field to win the Eagles' club champion award, holding out Dean Cox by three votes. "I honestly didn't think I'd get anywhere near the top five so I ducked off and made sure I jotted a few people down that I didn't want to forget," he said. "It might have looked a little bit silly, but I made sure I tried to get everyone. I wanted to make sure I thanked Mum and Dad, which normally I'm terrible and I forget those things."
Wednesday, 13 June 2012
Scott Selwood is enjoying his role as West Coast's major ball winner but would happily revert to being a run-with player. "Defensively I thought my game was pretty sound, and it was probably more working on the offensive side throughout the off-season," he said. "It is a bit more fun [but] I don't really care what I do each week. I've just tried to play my role every week. I think that's been the main thing to our success, we've got 22 contributors doing the same thing."
Tuesday, 17 April 2012
West Coast has re-signed run-with midfielder Scott Selwood for another three seasons. "I'm excited to be a part of this playing group," he said. "There are some encouraging signs that we can achieve sustained success and I want to play a part in that. "I have been fortunate enough to see my brothers play in premierships and I am hungry to achieve the same. I believe this group can do that and I'd be proud to be involved in it."
Thursday, 22 September 2011
It will not be a case of brotherly love when West Coast siblings Adam and Scott Selwood clash with brother Joel in the preliminary final against Geelong. "I texted him … saying we're one day closer to smashing him on Saturday," Eagle Adam Selwood said. "I haven't received one back yet, so I might keep sending that every day until Saturday." Cat Joel Selwood, however, says he won't be getting into a slanging match. "I've spoken to him throughout the week, but he does write a bit of rubbish and talk a bit of rubbish sometimes. I won't get into that," he said.

Melbourne coach Dean Bailey says Colin Sylvia's suspension after striking Eagle Scott Selwood will have a big impact on the club. "He's a player we're going to miss because he does kick goals and he does create some run through the middle of the ground which he's been really focused on this year, so ... it's disappointing it happened and we think playing the footy is more important than anything else," Bailey said. "He's let us down, he's let the club down but I know that Col was really disappointed."
Monday, 6 July 2009
The match review panel offers Melbourne Colin Sylvia four weeks for striking Scott Selwood, Jared Brennan gets offered one-week for headbutting Josh Carr and Troy Chaplin two weeks for striking Daniel Rich.
