Jake Spencer Biography

Tuesday, 12 September 2017

Jake Spencer will not be offered a new contract by Melbourne for the 2018 season while forward Liam Hulett and rookie Mitch White have also been let go.

Sunday, 2 July 2017

Melbourne confirm that Jay Kennedy-Harris, Ben Kennedy, Dean Kent and Jake Spencer were banned from selection for Friday night's loss to Sydney after breaching the club's alcohol policy.

The quartet broke team rules following VFL affiliate Casey's 26-point win over Box Hill.

Monday, 24 April 2017

Jake Spencer is set to miss a number of weeks after being injured against Richmond at the MCG.

Spencer hurt the AC joint in his right shoulder in the first quarter and his right knee in the second term.

The ruckman was then spotted on the bench with his right arm in a sling.

Thursday, 12 May 2016

Jake Spencer signs a contract extension with Melbourne that will keep him at the club until end of 2017.

"Jake has shown in his time at Melbourne that he's capable at AFL level," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"He's had a frustrating run with injuries, but we think having Jake as part of our ruck division is important for the club, given his age and experience."

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

Jake Spencer admits it will be a challenge for him to get a game in the ruck for the Demons in 2015 behind teammates Mark Jamar and Max Gawn.

"I probably see myself at the bottom of the pecking order at the moment, so that's why I'm keen to get back out there in full training," Spencer said.

"Who knows? Anything can happen. This time last year I was flying and then my ankle gave away early in the season. You never know what situations can come up, so all I can do is train hard and hopefully I'll get an opportunity in the NAB Challenge and show Roosy what I can do."

Friday, 6 June 2014

Jake Spencer re-signs with Melbourne for a further two years, keeping him at the club until the end of 2016.

"Being out of contract, it was a relief to know that the club wants to keep you. I'm very happy to get it done now, rather than at the end of the year," Spencer said.

"The coaching staff said they had seen enough of the list to offer certain blokes contracts and I was one of those guys.

"They (the club) approached my manager and I was ecstatic with that news. It came about pretty quick and I was delighted with the outcome."

Tuesday, 30 October 2012

Melbourne has re-signed three emerging players in James Strauss, Jake Spencer and Rohan Bail.

"These three form a part of the younger group who are coming through together that we think are the players of the future," Melbourne list manager Tim Harrington said.
