Jordan Gysberts says he can't wait to repay North's faith after being traded to the Roos for Cameron Pedersen.

"He couldn't be happier - he really likes Brad Scott and he can't wait to work with the likes of Brent Harvey and Andrew Swallow and all the other North mids," Gysberts' manager Tim Hazell said.

"There was a bit of interest from other clubs but as soon as he met with North Melbourne he was determined to get there."

Demon midfielder Jordan Gysberts will miss up to six weeks with an ankle injury sustained in the VFL.

"Unfortunately, Jordan hurt his ankle during the second quarter of Casey's game against Coburg," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"[It] is disappointing for Jordan, as he has been improving each week at VFL level, and had started that game particularly well with his tackling pressure."

After a superb pair of games to begin his senior career, Jordan Gysberts earns the round 11 nomination for the NAB AFL Rising Star award.

"It's a lot hard work, and I'm just lucky to have good teammates out there like Brent Moloney and James McDonald. They give me a lot of guidance and they show me the way," Gysbert said about elevating his game to the AFL.

Jordan Gysberts makes his AFL debut for Melbourne at Kardinia Park with 26 disposals (13 kicks and 13 handballs), 8 marks and 3 tackles in a 54-point loss to Geelong.

Young Demon midfielder Jordan Gysberts impresses with 26 disposals on debut against Geelong at Skilled Stadium.

"We had confidence in him starting in at the centre bounce and confidence in him playing as a centre square player with his clearance stuff," Melbourne coach Dean Bailey said.

"We think he's going to be a pretty good player for us; a tall-type midfielder is probably the mix we were looking for."
