Carlton selects Bulldog Jason Tutt with the only selection in the 2014 NAB AFL Pre-season Draft.

"We think he will be a high half-forward who will push up to the wing," Carlton recruiting manager Shane Rogers said.

"He kicks the ball well and is an elite runner who will play lots of senior footy."

Jason Tutt has had a unique journey to the AFL after starting out as a softball player in North America.

"Where we were playing in Yukon is up near Alaska. The games drew big crowds, like 6000 for our final," he said.

"But once I had achieved the world title there isn't much after that in the world of softball. You can play in the US or Japan for six months of the year but the pay isn't great.

"The Bulldogs gave me a chance and right now I'm very happy they did. I have a long way to go but my first game was a good start. My old softball mates were great, sending me messages to say how happy they were for me."

Sunday, 21 August 2011

Jason Tutt makes his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs at Football Park with 26 disposals (18 kicks and 8 handballs), 6 marks, 2 tackles and 4 goals in a 60-point win over Port Adelaide.

A booming pre-season has boosted young Bulldog Jason Tutt's chances of a senior call-up in 2011.

"Last year in the review, they said they'd look to give me a go depending on form," Tutt said.

"I'm aiming to play anywhere between one to 10 games this year. If I get a game, that will be great, and if I don't, I know there's things to improve on."
