Young Tiger forward Troy Taylor has stunned the club by walking out on the club again.

"He will spend time away from the club and make a decision on whether he wants to continue his AFL career," Richmond football manager Craig Cameron said.

Troubled Richmond youngster Troy Taylor has returned to the Northern Territory to consider whether to continue in the AFL.

"The club will continue to support Troy as he deals with these issues," Richmond general manager of football Craig Cameron said in a statement.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick says young forward Troy Taylor is firing after a few weeks away from the club dealing with personal issues.

"He had a couple of things he needed to sort out," Hardwick said.

"We're more than confident that he'll be right and put himself in a good place to hopefully make a game in round one. He's had a terrific pre-season and he's been very, very impressive in the games he's had with us thus far."

Young Richmond forward Troy Taylor will miss the start of pre-season training for personal reasons.

"The club is aware that Troy has some personal issues he is dealing with at the moment. We have been in constant contact with Troy and his family while he works through those issues," Richmond general manager of football Craig Cameron said.

"We are hopeful that Troy will return to the club in the near future, and we will continue to support him through this period."

Young Tiger Troy Taylor has received a suspended sentence after pleading guilty to assault stemming from an incident in Alice Springs last year.

"Troy is extremely remorseful and understands fully that he has done the wrong thing," Richmond football manager Craig Cameron said.

"The club will continue to support Troy and assist him in making better decisions in the future. Troy has a wonderful opportunity being a part of the AFL system and we will be working with him to make the most of that opportunity."

Richmond draftee Troy Taylor has been charged with assault following an incident in Alice Springs on New Year's Eve and will face a Northern Territory court later this month.

"We knew Troy had a number of issues he was dealing with when we drafted him," Richmond chief executive Brendon Gale said in a statement released by the club.

"The Richmond Football Club has a professional network of support helping Troy address his issues but we have also advised Troy that he needs to take personal responsibility for the decisions he makes."

Damien Hardwick is willing to give Troy Taylor a second chance despite the troubled recruit still being under police investigation for assault.

"As a kid we all made mistakes and Troy admits that and is willing to accept the consequences of his actions. He's a player we think we can have an enormous future with," Hardwick said.

An alleged incident involving Richmond draftee Troy Taylor is being investigated by Northern Territory Police.

Taylor is alleged to have been involved in an assault during a scuffle at a New Year's Eve party.

"The Richmond Football Club takes any allegation of player misbehaviour very seriously," a statement from the Tigers read.

"Richmond has been in contact with the AFL and has informed it of the club's knowledge of the matter."
