Aidan Riley Biography

Friday, 18 September 2015

Melbourne delists Jack Fitzpatrick as part of four list changes it announced on Friday.

Fitzpatrick joins Aidan Riley, Rohan Bail and Jordie McKenzie as those to be let go, as the Demons continue down the path of aggressively reshaping their list.

"All four players have had to overcome adversity at different stages through their careers and during their time at Melbourne," Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"All four players had limited appearances at AFL level this year, but they were all consistent players for Casey Scorpions and we appreciate the effort they put in at VFL level and how it assisted the development of our younger players.

"They have all contributed right to the end of their time at Melbourne and we thank them for their contribution and wish them all the best for the future."

Monday, 11 November 2013

Melbourne signs discarded Adelaide on-baller Aidan Riley as a delisted free agent.

"Aidan has been a quality performer in the SANFL and at 21 years old, and with four seasons in the AFL system behind him, we feel he is ready to grasp the next opportunity in his football career," Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"He will add depth to our midfield, which has been strengthened throughout the recent trade and now delisted free agency period."

Richard Tambling and Aidan Riley are delisted by Adelaide but the Crows say re-drafting them as rookies may still be an option.

"Richard and Aidan have both been hampered by injuries, which have affected the continuity of their football," Adelaide list manager David Noble said.

"We've had to make some tough decisions to make room for rookie upgrades and two picks in the National Draft.

"Both Richard and Aidan will be given consideration for rookie spots next year."

Monday, 8 July 2013

Aidan Riley will miss the rest of the season after having surgery for a broken leg suffered against West Coast during an attempted tackle in just his second game in 2013.

"It's really disappointing for Aidan," Crows coach Brenton Sanderson said.

"He waited a while for his opportunity and played well after coming into the team last week."

Wednesday, 6 March 2013

Crow Daniel Talia says teammate Aidan Riley earnt his nickname "Pig Dog" by being one of the hardest players at the club.

"He's one of the hardest blokes going around, he tackles like crazy and in all the wrestling and boxing we do he's just fearless. I think a few of the boys are scared of him," Talia said.

"He gets in and under the packs and takes guys out with tackles, so he's highly-regarded in that contested ball area."

Tuesday, 4 September 2012

Cambell Brown has been offered a six-match ban after his reckless collision with Crow Aidan Riley.

Monday, 1 August 2011

Adelaide onballer Aidan Riley says he was selected for his debut game against the Power because of his contested style of play.

"'Bicks' had a chat to me early in the week and spoke about my contested style of play, my tackling and aggressiveness," Riley said.

"Showdowns are known to be that sort of aggressive football and it was a trait he liked in me. He wanted to see how I went in that regard, and I think that was the main reason behind it [my selection]."

Sunday, 31 July 2011

Aidan Riley makes his AFL debut for Adelaide at Football Park with 4 disposals (2 kicks and 2 handballs), 3 marks and a tackle in a 32-point win over Port Adelaide.
