Broc McCauley Biography

Friday, 1 June 2012

Hawthorn has been dealt another blow to its stock of tall players, with ruckman Broc McCauley injuring his elbow during a practice match.

Tuesday, 3 April 2012

Improved Hawthorn ruckman Broc McCauley has revealed he seriously considered retiring after finding himself on the outer at the Lions.

McCauley impressed with 21 hitouts, 14 disposals, four marks and a goal against the Magpies in Round 1, his first game for the Hawks.

"I found the second half of last year at Brisbane pretty tough, because I didn't get another opportunity," McCauley said.

"I was actually thinking at one stage about throwing it in and giving up footy altogether, because if you're not playing regular senior footy, financially it's pretty tough, compared to if I was working in the financial services industry.

"But I guess at the end of the day I thought that I can only play footy until I'm 30 or 31, and I can work in an office for the rest of my life. I'm sure there would be a lot of people out there that would give up their day job on the spot for a chance to play AFL footy."

Friday, 23 March 2012

Hawthorn has promoted big-man Broc McCauley after Alex Woodward was placed on the long-term injury list.

"Broc was particularly good early and then got either a kick or a knock to the ankle, and that just knocked him a little bit around," Hawks coach Alastair Clarkson said.

"We're pretty hopeful that those two (McCauley and David Hale) will be able to do the job for us in Max's absence."

Sunday, 3 April 2011

Broc McCauley makes his AFL debut for Brisbane at Docklands Stadium with 8 disposals (8 handballs), a tackle and 9 hitouts in a 78-point loss to the Western Bulldogs.
