Brisbane has cut five players from its list, led by experienced trio Tom Bell, Rohan Bewick and Claye Beams.

The Lions have also delisted utility Marco Paparone and rookie-listed midfielder Jake Barrett.

None of the five played regular senior footy in 2018, but the cull means some age and games experience leaves the club.

Rohan Bewick says he thought his AFL days were over before a positional switch to the wing last year breathed new life into his career.

"I thought I was gone, early part of last year," he admitted.

"I was pretty thankful Leppa gave me that opportunity to play wing in the seniors.

"To have a couple of good games in the NEAFL and then carry that straight into the AFL was pretty pleasing and encouraging for my own form."

West Australians Nick Robertson and Rohan Bewick have both re-signed with the Brisbane Lions.

Bewick, 24, has revitalised his career in the past six weeks and earned himself a new one-year deal, while first-year midfielder Robertson has signed a two-year extension, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2017.

After a solid 2012, Rohan Bewick believes he can play his best footy at half-forward for the Lions.

"I was swapping between wing and half-forward and doing a bit of both and not doing exceptionally well at either of them," Bewick said.

"I had a couple of good games at half-forward and found some good, consistent footy. I focused on my role and it paid off towards the end of last year."
