Former AFL goalsneak Damian Cupido breaks a three-decade old Northern Territory record for the fastest 100 goals in a season.

Cupido kicked six goals in Southern's 44-point win over Darwin to take his tally to 102 goals in 13 games, beating Dennis Dunn's mark set 27 years ago.

Former Essendon and Brisbane forward Damian Cupido has been stood down by his SANFL club due to a gambling addiction.

"It's extremely disappointing for both the club and Damian," West Adelaide chief executive Kym Russell said.

"He is a young man who has got a problem and we want to help him out. We thought long and hard about it and decided together that removing him from the club was the best outcome for now."
