After six seasons of playing for Port Adelaide, Aaron Young says it's been a blessing to move outside the "footy bubble" to Gold Coast.

"You get your life back a bit. You can walk down the street and no-one recognises you," Young said.

"If you have a poor game, you can get back to training and focus on what you need to do without too much outside noise."

Aaron Young says moving to Gold Coast from Port Adelaide has rejuvenated his career.

"It's a fresh opportunity. After seven years at one club I was maybe getting a bit stale and getting comfortable," Young said.

"It's been good to come to a fresh environment, training is a bit different, different people around you and learning things off different coaches."

Monday, 16 October 2017

Aaron Young says he's open to being traded from the Power, but is also willing to accept a one-year contract offer from the club if no deal can be made.

Young, 24, was the Power's second-highest goal-kicker in 2016, but managed just 13 games this year and spent much of the second half of the season in the SANFL.

"I've loved my time at Port and they've been really good to me, and they've said I can go out and explore," Young said on NAB AFL Trade Radio.

"There's guys who are probably going to be without a club and a job; for me, it's a little easier, but the uncertainty is hard to deal with at times."

Wednesday, 8 June 2016

Aaron Young signs a one-year contract extension with Port Adelaide and will remain with the club until the end of 2017.

"I don't want to play anywhere else," Young said.

"We tied the contract conditions away a fair while ago, and I'm really pleased to have my future here settled.

"The support I've had playing in the new role has been really valuable and I'm just looking forward to keeping it going for the rest of the year."

Sunday, 3 April 2016

After being a late call-up, Aaron Young kicks a career-high four goals to with 21 disposals in the Power's loss to Adelaide.

However, the 23-year old midfielder said it was hard to take any personal joy from his efforts.

“It’s always nice to kick a few goals, but with a team result from that it doesn’t count for too much,’’ Young said.

Port Adelaide say they would be willing to part ways with Aaron Young if the midfielder can find more senior opportunities at another club.

"'Youngy' is contracted to us for next year and we think that Youngy can play footy," Port Adelaide general manager of football Chris Davies said.

"He probably hasn't got the opportunities that he has wanted."

Friday, 31 August 2012

Port Adelaide resigns four of its young players including Jasper Pittard, Cameron O'Shea, Jarrad Redden and Aaron Young.

"Adelaide's a great place to live, there's more sun than Melbourne and less traffic, but the main part is sticking together … and getting games together with the young group so that in the next few years we can be a really competitive side," Young said.

We are pretty tight off the field and spend a lot of time with each other, so it's definitely a big factor in all of us re-signing," O'Shea added.

Sunday, 29 April 2012

Aaron Young makes his AFL debut for Port Adelaide at Football Park with 4 disposals (2 kicks and 2 handballs), a mark and a tackle in a 19-point loss to Adelaide.
