Cameron Pedersen Biography

Tuesday, 25 September 2018

Cameron Pedersen is delisted by Melbourne.

"What a whirlwind the past 6 years have been!" Pedersen said on social media.

"Time is up for me at this great club but I'm very proud where the club sits moving forward. A big thank you to all the supporters and Melbourne and Casey for all the support over the years."

Cam Pedersen has signed a new one-year deal with Melbourne that will keep him at the club in 2018.

"His attitude to coming here and playing whatever role we need him to play has had a big influence on us and he’s earned another year," football manager Josh Mahoney said.

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin says Cam Pedersen will be retained in the senior side despite the return of ruckman Max Gawn.

Pedersen has played every game since round six, with the 193cm utility improving his output in the ruck in the absence of Gawn.

"He's been in exceptional form and we want to be a club that rewards players in good form," Goodwin said.

With Melbourne's ruck stocks decimated through injury, Cameron Pedersen was asked to shoulder the club's ruck burden against Essendon at Etihad Stadium.

Pedersen was well beaten at ruck contests by 201cm Essendon big man Tom Bellchambers, who had 33 hit-outs to Pedersen's 18; the Bombers won the overall count 45-25.

However, Pedersen and Melbourne's midfielders were able to limit Bellchambers' influence at stoppages to the extent the Demons won the clearances 40-31, as well as the game by 28 points.

"My focus was just to try and jump into him and limit his hits and try and ensure he could only hit inside a certain triangle that we could defend," Pedersen said.

"Full credit to our midfield boys, they really attacked the other mids."

Cam Pedersen signs a new one-year deal with Melbourne to remain at the club in 2017.

"Cam has proven to be a durable player, who has been able to perform at the level when required," Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney said.

"As our young forwards continue to develop, Cam can play a role in assisting this next year. He deserves his new one-year extension."

Tuesday, 4 October 2016

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney says the club is keen for Cam Pedersen to remain at the club in 2017.

"We would expect Cam to be here next year and we'll offer him a contract," Mahoney said.

"He played a role for us and we think that he's going to be an important player for us moving forward."

Thursday, 24 September 2015

Cameron Pedersen has avoided the latest cut at Melbourne, signing a new one-year deal to remain at the club in 2016.

The 28-year-old played his 50th AFL game in round nine against Port Adelaide in Alice Springs, but after he broke his wrist against St Kilda in round 11 it was unclear whether his contract would be renewed.

However, football manager Josh Mahoney said Pedersen's versatility afforded the Demons options.

"Cam came in and played some good football for us in the role as a forward and ruck, before he got injured in round 11," Mahoney said.

"He's worked hard in his rehab and we're happy to offer him another opportunity for 2016."

Cameron Pedersen will miss the rest of the season after scans confirmed he broke his wrist in the Demons' loss to St Kilda.

"Cam had a pretty bad injury on his wrist. He both fractured and dislocated his wrist," elite performance manager Dave Misson said.

"He had an initial operation after the game on Sunday night and he'll have the main reconstructive surgery on Friday, this week."

Thursday, 7 August 2014

Cam Pedersen has surgery after his nose was broken when he was hit in a marking contest involving Brisbane Lion Daniel Merrett at Etihad Stadium.

Pedersen was left bloodied after Merrett's spoiling attempt and needs further surgery at the end of the season to fix some internal damage in his nose.

Merrett's match-day striking report was thrown out after it was deemed he was making a legitimate attempt to spoil the ball and that the contact made was accidental.

Jordan Gysberts says he can't wait to repay North's faith after being traded to the Roos for Cameron Pedersen.

"He couldn't be happier - he really likes Brad Scott and he can't wait to work with the likes of Brent Harvey and Andrew Swallow and all the other North mids," Gysberts' manager Tim Hazell said.

"There was a bit of interest from other clubs but as soon as he met with North Melbourne he was determined to get there."

Friday, 12 October 2012

North's Cameron Pedersen appears set to be traded to Melbourne in exchange for a second-round draft pick.

"North have been pretty good recognising where Cameron is at with his footy," Peter Lenton, of LFM Sports, said.

"He was in Werribee's best players most weeks this year but it was hard for him to get ahead of the other key-position players at North.

"Both Melbourne and North Melbourne have been moving in the right direction and I'm confident they'll be able to agree on a trade."

Thursday, 20 September 2012

The media reports that Melbourne may attempt to lure versatile big man Cameron Pedersen from the Kangaroos during the trade period.

Sunday, 27 March 2011

Cameron Pedersen makes his AFL debut for North Melbourne with 20 disposals (12 kicks and 8 handballs), 5 marks, 3 tackles and 14 hitouts in a 4-point loss to West Coast.
