Carlton delist Aaron Mullett, Cameron O'Shea as well as rookie-listed duo Matthew Shaw and Jesse Glass-McCasker.

"We wish Aaron, Cam, Matt and Jesse all the best for their future endeavours. They have all contributed strongly to our football program over recent years and should be proud of their achievements during their time at Carlton," Carlton football manager Brad Lloyd said.

Aaron Mullett signs with Carlton as a delisted free agent.

"Aaron showed his talents as an effective rebounding defender, however recently, he has also been pushing through the middle so we see some exciting versatility there," Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni said.

"With a strong pre-season campaign, we're confident Aaron will be in a position to cement a regular spot in our senior side in 2018."

A frustrated Aaron Mullett believes his best football is still to come as he hunts for a new club after North Melbourne delisted him.

Mullett averaged a career-high 20 disposals in 18 games in 2017 – between a broken hand and a calf injury.

"It's really frustrating to be in this position, obviously playing the majority of games (this) year and I think I took a good step forward," Mullett told NAB AFL Trade Radio.

"I'm just waiting by the phone and keeping in contact with my manager and keeping really fit, so if a club comes I'll be ready to go."

North Melbourne delist Aaron Mullett.

"Aaron fought hard for promotion off the rookie list on two occasions early in his career, which showed his dedication and perseverance," Kangaroos general manager of football Cameron Joyce said.

"He's been a fantastic servant of the club for the past seven years and we sincerely hope he can resurrect his AFL career with another club."

Scott Thompson, Jarrad Waite and Ben Jacobs are among seven North Melbourne players whose futures are unlikely to be decided until after this year's trade period.

Thompson (restricted free agent), Waite and Jacobs are set to come out of contract at the end of October, along with Sam Gibson, Aaron Mullett and second-year players Declan Mountford and Corey Wagner.

It's understood North has told some of these players it won't be able to inform them whether they will be offered contract extensions until after the trade period finishes on Thursday, October 19.

Aaron Mullett injures the fourth metacarpal in his right hand while spoiling Gold Coast forward Tom Lynch in the second quarter of North Melbourne's 13-point win over the Suns.

He played out the rest of the game and won 24 disposals and seven rebound-50s from 87 per cent game time.

He will undergo surgery with the Roos hopeful he will only miss one game.

"Aaron met with a specialist (on Monday) morning and will have surgery to insert a small plate in his hand later (on Monday) afternoon," North doctor Peter Baquie said.

"After the procedure, it will simply be a matter of allowing the wound enough time to heal before he can return. We anticipate that will only be one to two weeks at the most."

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

Aaron Mullett says he is confident of getting back to his dashing best after re-signing with North Melbourne until the end of 2017.

"I think I've learnt over the past couple of years what makes me a good footballer," Mullett said.

"When I go away from those things, I'm not that great and I can get caught out a bit sometimes.

"It's pretty easy for me. If I defend well, I get the ball back and it's clear that's what I'm in the team for. But if I go away from that, then I won't be in the team – it's that simple."

Tuesday, 20 January 2015

Aaron Mullett is likely to be sidelined until mid-May after having surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Mullett had a few shoulder issues at the end of last year but the Roos were hopeful he would get through 2015 unscathed.

But North's director of sports science and training services Steve Saunders said Mullett had suffered further damage over past two months.

"The consensus was that Aaron would be fine to get through another season and we'd review him again at the end of the year," Saunders told the club's website.

"New symptoms developed, we've reinvestigated these and found new pathology in his shoulder joint."

North Melbourne believes Aaron Mullett will remain at the club in 2015 despite interest from rival clubs.

Mullett is understood to have attracted interest from Collingwood after falling out of favour late this season and missing all three of North's finals.

"He's contracted, he's had his player review and we expect Aaron to be here. There's no reason to think otherwise," North football director Geoff Walsh said.

Wednesday, 4 September 2013

Jaeger O'Meara has capped off an outstanding debut season by winning this year's NAB AFL Rising Star Award from Adelaide's Brad Crouch, with Port Adelaide's Oliver Wines finishing third.

O'Meara polled 44 of a possible 45 votes to win by 13 votes from Crouch, with Wines finishing on 26 votes ahead of North Melbourne's Aaron Mullett and Sydney Swan Tom Mitchell who tied on 11 votes in equal fourth.

Friday, 7 June 2013

Aaron Mullett signs a new deal with the Kangaroos that will keep his at the club until the end of 2015.

Mullett has played in all 10 games so far in 2013, featuring highly in his last game against St Kilda with a career-high 31 disposals and a goal.

"It's a massive achievement for me to play the first 10 games because I didn't know where I was sitting coming into round one," Mullett said.

"My focus going into the pre-season was defend first. I was told if you defend well you'll get a game so that was my priority coming into the pre-season.

"The main focus with all of my clips is if I defend well I get the ball. If I defend and get a spoil in I usually get on the end of it, but if I drift away from that I usually don't get the ball."
