"I remember being overlooked in my draft year in 2010 and to be given the chance to play AFL in my home state the year after is something I was very grateful for. So to be here 11 years and 189 games later is something I'll forever be proud of," Brown said in a statement.

Luke Brown will be sidelined for two months as he undergoes surgery to his left ankle.

"Luke’s plantaris tendon is limiting his ability to complete the pre-season loads required to prepare for AFL football," Crows high performance general manager Matt Hass said.

"He had progressed well with conservative management of an ankle impingement issue through the pre-season, but with a return to full training the plantaris tendon is now causing symptoms that limit him."

Luke Brown is looking forward to matching up on Richmond livewire Daniel Rioli in the 2017 Grand Final.

Rioli announced himself as a September specialist with four electric goals in the preliminary final against the Giants.

Luke Brown signs a two-year contract with the Crows.

Brown says the future is bright for Adelaide's defensive unit.

"It is a bit exciting, especially with the group coming up underneath as well; Jake Lever … Kyle Hartigan's developing really well and Cheney came into the group and gave a lot," he said.

"So we're really looking forward to what we have to offer as a group and back six."

Adelaide coach Phil Walsh says Brown's professionalism meant he was well suited to playing in his best 22.

"Luke has been one of our most consistent performers," Walsh said.

"Each week he is tasked with shutting down the opposition's most dangerous small forward – a job he has down with great success this year.

"We are creating a team-first environment and Luke's attitude and professionalism make him a perfect fit."

Luke Brown says training with Crows teammate and one of the best small fowards in the competition, Eddie Betts, has helped his game immensely.

"He's pretty much – in pre-season – who I play on the most and it's like you play an extra game each week on the best small forward in the competition," Brown said.

"It gives me great confidence going into each week."

Sunday, 26 April 2015

Luke Brown will play in his 50th game for the Crows this week against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

"It's not something you really strive for when you start playing, you just want to play each week and help your team win, so it's a good little milestone," Brown said.

"Most of my friends, my parents will be watching this weekend.

"It's crept up pretty quickly but I've just been happy to keep playing my role."

"It's a positive sign Luke wants to be part of our group and we are really pleased he has committed now."

Sunday, 3 February 2013

With Michael Doughty's retirement, Luke Brown knows that a spot is available for him in defence if he is good enough to take it.

"Michael was a great leader for defenders in general and everyone around here," Brown said.

"The way he went about it and the way he went through his career – hard at it, helping out his teammates; I admire him a lot.

"The career he had was amazing, so to play anywhere close to the level he did would be exceptional for me."

Brown also says playing under former Crow Nathan Bassett for Norwood in the SANFL was greatly beneficial to his development as a defender.

"In my first year at Norwood (2011), Nathan gave me the confidence to play my way and run with the ball and do what I can," Brown said.

"That was probably why I had a such a good year and got drafted – the confidence to play week in week out with the Redlegs.

"I was in a bit of contact with him (Bassett) throughout last year just trying to figure out how to take the next step and he was really helpful."

"He will need some further dental work but should not be ruled out from playing for any extended period."
