Adam Kennedy retires after 153 games across 13 seasons. The 32-year-old's last appearance at AFL level came in round six, 2023, where he was dealt another cruel blow after rupturing his ACL for a second time. "Adam is an inaugural player and a Life Member of the club and his contribution on and off the field for the Giants since the club's inception is to be admired," Giants footy manager Jason McCartney said. "We were fortunate enough to watch him grow from a teenager into the man he is today, and we wish Adam all the best for the next chapter in his life."

When Adam Kennedy runs onto the Gabba in Saturday's semi-final to take on Brisbane, he will set a personal record for games played in a single season. It's a milestone that looked out of reach earlier in 2019 when he experienced an elevated heart rate and was sent to the hospital. "I feel great now, but it was a bizarre situation. I had a small procedure where they put some wires up my leg and went in through my heart and played around with it, so that was a weird thing to go through," Kennedy said. "The doctors looked at that and thought they might see something, but they were happy with how everything looked, and that gave me some peace of mind. "I had a good chat with the doc and he told me that these things can happen, and it could be a one-off, but he was confident it wouldn't happen again."

Adam Kennedy is taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up after suffering an elevated heart rate. Kennedy had 18 possessions in the first half of the reserves at Giants Stadium, but reported to medical staff that he was feeling unwell at the main break. "It's something we're not going to take lightly," GWS coach Leon Cameron said. "We've got to see where it came from and how it happened. We're confident he's going to be right, but we'll wait and see early in the week."

On the eve of this 100th game, Adam Kennedy admits his AFL journey hasn't been easy. The 26-year-old speedster started with a 28-possession, 11-mark debut in the Giants' first ever AFL match and played 54 games in his first three seasons, but injuries and a squeeze for spots in the talented GWS line-up saw his career progression stall. But Kennedy has been a staple in the Giants' best 22 since he returned from a knee reconstruction in round 17 last year, and had his milestone match – which comes against Hawthorn at the MCG – circled on the calendar this season. "I'd be lying if I'd said I hadn't been thinking about it, because it's been a bit of a rollercoaster," he said. "But to play 100 games is pretty special after being an original Giant and playing in the first ever game, it's pretty cool."

Adam Kennedy signs a three-year contract extension after fearing a season-ending knee injury would also end his time at the club. Kennedy, 24, had been in positive discussions with Greater Western Sydney early this season about securing a new deal, but he was concerned the goalposts might have moved after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the round seven loss to St Kilda at Etihad Stadium. "Just before I did my knee I started (negotiations with) the club and they said they want to keep me on, which I was over the moon about because I love the club; and then after I did my knee, I was a little bit worried and so was my family, being (the) last year of (my) contract," Kennedy said. "But the Giants pretty much got straight on the phone and said, 'Mate, nothing's changed – we want you for another three years.' "It just shows what type of club this is. Obviously I'm out for the year and we've got a lot of guys signing on, and for them not to forget about me – you do play things (out) in your head – it makes me feel at home."

GWS fears defender Adam Kennedy may have torn his anterior cruciate ligament the Giants' loss to St Kilda. The defender landed awkwardly on his left leg during a marking contest in the Giants' shock 23-point loss, with his knee twisting inwards. He spent the rest of the term on the sidelines as the GWS medical staff put his knee through a full range of tests, including several ACL tests. Kennedy tried to stand up, but his knee buckled underneath him. The 24-year-old limped down the race with the doctor and did not return. "That's life. He's probably one of our most popular players and he was in really good form," GWS coach Leon Cameron said. "We'll confirm that on Sunday. It's not looking great."

Greater Western Sydney has signed Casey Scorpions defender Tim Mohr and young midfielder Adam Kennedy. "He's a strong key position defender who can play centre half back or full back and that is a big asset for us," GWS national list and recruitment manager Stephen Silvagni said of Mohr. "Adam was very unlucky not to have been picked up in last year's draft. To his credit he dealt with that setback and focused on working hard this year to again prove his ability as an over age player in the TAC Cup competition. He's a natural leader," Silvagni added on Kennedy.
