Gold Coast will re-draft promising defender Henry Schade as a rookie if he is not picked up as a delisted free agent.

The Suns delisted Schade, who has played 20 games since being the club’s first selection in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft at No.24, because they needed a list spot to use their plethora of early draft picks this year.

"I'm rapt to have re-signed with the club. I've enjoyed the move to the Gold Coast and I'm loving my time up here," Lonergan said.

"I'm working really hard in the gym and with our development coaches to make sure that I'm ready for senior football as soon as possible," Schade added.

Gold Coast's Tasmanian recruit Henry Schade can't wait to move north, even if his pasty skin takes a while to adjust.

"Honestly I had no idea where I was gong to go, or if I was going to go at all. I spoke to Gold Coast twice before the draft, but I still had no idea if they were interested or not," Schade said.

"You don't know if they're trying to find out whether you're an idiot or not or whether they're genuinely interested, it was early days and I had no idea so it was a total shock."
