Delisted Richmond tall Todd Elton is determined to earn a second chance at AFL level.

"I want to have another fair dinkum crack at it, because I feel like I'm just getting into my prime and feel as though I've got plenty more to give, wherever that may be," Elton said.

"I feel like I've got a lot improvement in me and a lot more to give at AFL level."

Richmond delists veteran defender Steven Morris, key forward Todd Elton and backman Taylor Hunt in its first round of list changes.

"On behalf of everyone at Richmond, I would like to thank Todd and Taylor for their contribution to the club," Richmond list manager Dan Richardson said.

"We are delighted Steve will return for the VFL Tigers in 2018 and also thank him for his service as an AFL player.

"We wish them and their families all the very best for the future."

Todd Elton faces a period on the sidelines to recover from a shoulder injury, but he will not require surgery.

Elton dislocated his right shoulder in the VFL against Werribee and the club said he would undergo a rehab program, with his return date unclear at this stage.

Todd Elton signs a two-yeal contract extension with Richmond that will keep him at the club until the end of 2017.

Elton has played just two matches in his four years at Richmond, with selection in the Tigers' rock solid backline hard to secure.

Richmond has re-signed six players, including versatile defender Jake Batchelor and Ricky Petterd.

Batchelor has inked a deal that will keep him at Punt Rd until at least the end of 2016, while Matt Dea, Matt McDonough, Todd Elton and Petterd have also put pen to paper.

Former Port Adelaide midfielder Matt Thomas has re-signed as a rookie-listed player for a further year as well.

Aaron Edwards, Jake Batchelor, Ben Griffiths and Todd Elton sign one-year deals with Richmond.
