Danny Butcher Biography

Matt Thomas has been delisted by Port Adelaide, along with key forwards Daniel Stewart and Nick Salter as well as defender Nathan Blee.

They are four of seven changes to the club's squad, with rookies Justin Hoskin, Darren Pfeiffer and Danny Butcher also delisted.

John Butcher says his younger brother Danny, recruited at pick 21 in the rookie draft, will help bring a new hard edge to the Power.

"He's as hard as a cat's head. His attack on the ball is crazy, I can't believe him," John Butcher said about Danny Butcher.

"He runs all day, he's really quick and he's very courageous, so he'll fit in really well here."

Danny Butcher has always been close to brother John and now gets the opportunity to play alongside him at Port Adelaide.

I'd been meeting up with a few clubs and I was all about thinking I'd be playing VFL next year," Butcher said.

"Then it got closer to the rookie draft and I still had hope I'd go and then Port rang up and said there was a chance they'd take me. It's taken awhile to sink it, and it probably still is a bit, but it did a bit more in the first training run."
