Tom Campbell says he is immensely grateful to North Melbourne for giving him a second chance. "The first time you get drafted into the AFL it's really exciting, but I think the second opportunity meant a lot more," Campbell said. "I've got a lot of footy left to play and a lot to give and I just felt like I didn't quite get the opportunity to show it. For North Melbourne to show the faith in me and give me that chance, it just means so much." Campbell says his relationship with former Bulldogs teammate Will Minson, now ruck coach with the Kangaroos, played a significant role in his move to the club. "It's been fantastic to re-engage with him and work with him in a different professional capacity," Campbell said. "I think he really advocated strongly for me and I came in and had a meeting with Cam Joyce and Brad Scott, and things moved fairly quickly from there."

Shane Mumford could make shock comeback to AFL football in 2019 with his old side Greater Western Sydney. "He's been our ruck coach. There was one training session where I think he touched up all the rucks, so we thought 'gee, we should maybe explore this'," Giants general manager of football Wayne Campbell told NAB AFL Trade Radio. "There's a fair bit of water to go under the bridge, but we'll have a look at what happens over the next four to six weeks and potentially look at having Shane on our list for 2019." If Mumford returns he would need to nominate for the draft, and be available to every club.

"You're never left wondering what he thinks, and he also has a great balance between hard work, success, expectation and the ability to celebrate the successes along the way, which is really important."

"Shannon Grant has got to take a lot of credit for Tom - he worked with him last year [and] did a lot of one-on-one work with him. "He's a good young fella and he's fitted in well as a person. They love him in the weights room - he handles the work in there very well."
