Josh Hall Biography

Tuesday, 8 September 2015

Josh Hall switches codes, signing a two-year deal with rugby league's Penrith Panthers and ending his four-year career at the Suns.

Penrith executive general manager rugby league, Phil Gould, said he was impressed by Hall's personality and enthusiasm.

"He possesses great athletic ability, and if desire counts for anything, he has a bright future ahead of him," Gould said.

"Josh is well aware of the challenges he faces but a successful transition will no doubt inspire others to follow.

"It won’t be easy for Josh but we will do everything in our power to make his dream a reality."

Now in his fourth full season since switching sports from the high jump to AFL in 2011, Josh Hall knows it's time to start turning his potential into performance.

"My goal for this season was to (leapfrog) one of the big three - Dixon, (Tom) Lynch and Day," Hall said.

"If I can crack that, that's my goal. If that doesn't eventuate I can play a team role, I just want to play AFL footy, I'll do whatever.

"Hopefully I took a step forward yesterday and I've just got to stay consistent and keep that confidence up."

Saturday, 14 July 2012

Josh Hall makes his AFL debut for Gold Coast with 6 disposals (4 kicks and 2 handballs), 2 marks and 2 goals in a 2-point win over Richmond.

Josh Hall was Australia's top high jumper aiming at the London Olympics a year ago but will now make his debut for the Suns on Saturday.

"When I made the decision I told myself 'that's it, it is footy and footy only'," he said about playing AFL.

"But now that London is coming up it could work its way into the back of your mind a little and you could be wondering, 'I could have been there'."
