Hams recorded five games in three seasons on the senior list, but is likely to be rookie-listed by the club on November 27.

Will Hams has re-signed with Essendon for another year in a show of support from the Bombers after he failed to play a game in 2014.

Hams, 21, who made played the only two games of his career in 2013 after making his debut against the Swans in round 10 that year, has battled a hip injury all season.

He said he would use his struggles as motivation for the coming pre-season.

"I'm thrilled to be staying at Essendon. They were the club that gave me an opportunity so I want to be able to try and give something back," Hams said.

"This year was disappointing in terms of my hip injury, but everyone at the club has been incredibly supportive and I am working really hard on getting my body right over the pre-season."

Young Bombers Nick Kommer and Will Hams will be sidelined due to surgery.

Kommer had a impressive debut last year and played 19 games but he is yet to return this season because of a knee injury.

Hams, who played two games last year, has gone under the knife to repair a psoas tendon in his midriff.
