Sean Lemmens Biography

Monday, 21 February 2022

Gold Coast will head into 2022 with Touk Miller to join Jarrod Witts to serve as co-captains of the club.

The change comes after David Swallow stepped down from the captaincy following four years at the helm alongside Witts.

Sam Collins is the vice-captain, while Swallow will be joined by third-year midfielder Noah Anderson, Sean Lemmens and Nick Holman in the seven-man leadership group.

Wednesday, 22 September 2021

Gold Coast locks away two important pieces for its future, with Sam Day and Sean Lemmens both signing contract extensions.

Day has signed on for another two seasons, while Lemmens will be with the Suns until at least the end of 2024 after signing on for three.

Friday, 25 May 2018

Sean Lemmens signs a three-year deal with Gold Coast to remain at the club until the end of 2021.

"Having Stuey come on board this year, it's been awesome," Lemmens said of Suns coach Stuart Dew.

"The family culture he brings and the awareness around family and how much he cares about you, is definitely a standout and that’s the biggest reason why I stayed."

Thursday, 8 March 2018

Sean Lemmens will miss Gold Coast's 2018 season opener after suffering a hamstring injury against Geelong in the JLT Community Series.

Saturday, 20 August 2016

Sean Lemmens is stretchered off the ground in the second quarter of the Suns' clash with Collingwood at Etihad Stadium.

Lemmens and Jesse White collided as they both attempted to claim a bouncing ball, and White, who has an 11cm height advantage, collected the Suns defender high although content appeared accidental.

Lemmens lay on the ground motionless for several moments before he was taken from the field in a neck brace.

The Suns later tweeted a photo of Lemmens giving a thumbs-up sign from the changerooms indicating that he was feeling much better.

"He just got a clip on the jaw which I would've thought was accidental. He actually contributed to it, I thought. It was just unlucky," Suns coach Rodney Eade said about Lemmens.

"It was one of those where he had his mouth open and knocked his jaw back and he's got a bit of a cut lip.

"He's quite lucid at the moment, he's OK."

Wednesday, 1 June 2016

Sean Lemmens signs a two-year extension with Gold Coast that will tie him to the Suns until at least the end of 2018.

"It is no secret to anyone that knows me that the Gold Coast has become my home away from home, so to continue to live out my AFL career in Queensland is an opportunity I don’t take for granted," Lemmens said.

"The club has been incredibly supportive in my three years."

Thursday, 24 April 2014

No. 27 draft pick Sean Lemmens has held his place in defence for the Suns and the benefits have flowed to his teammates.

"What originally jumped out was his ability to read the play and cut the angles, knowing he had his own opponent covered, but was able to come across and assist another teammate," Suns defensive coach Dean Solomon said.

"He looked to be a bit above the level at under-18s. He has an appetite to be in the contest and you love that in your defenders."

Saturday, 15 March 2014

Sean Lemmens makes his AFL debut for Gold Coast with 12 disposals (10 kicks and 2 handballs), a mark and 2 tackles in a 18-point win over Richmond.

Thursday, 13 March 2014

After impressing in the pre-season, Clay Cameron is selected to make his AFL debut in the Suns' season opener against Richmond along with South Australian Sean Lemmens.

"Coming from being drafted this year I thought it (round one selection) might be out of reach, but I've done everything within my power to put my hand up and I was lucky enough the coaches thought I was ready to go," Lemmens said.
