New Lion Jarrad Jansen, who was recruited from Geelong, will wear Jonathan Brown's No.16 jumper in 2016.

The 20-year-old was all smiles when Brown presented him with the guernsey.

"It's an absolute privilege to be taking the jumper off Browny," Jansen said.

"He's a legend of the club, it's a legendary number.

"There is an element of pressure, but when you're training with your teammates, you forget about that pressure.

"I'm very grateful. The great man has made it famous. I won't take the opportunity for granted."

Cats pair Josh Walker and Jarrad Jansen will join the Brisbane Lions for a future third-round draft pick.

Monday, 21 September 2015

Jarrad Jansen has requested a trade from Geelong to the Brisbane Lions, citing a desire for more playing opportunities.

Lions recruiting boss Peter Schwab confirmed the 192cm midfielder was keen to head north.

"We've been tracking his progress this year and he's developed nicely," Schwab said.

"He's been at a great club and he's a young guy looking for an opportunity. We hope we can give him that opportunity to develop in our midfield.

"The Cats are a great club to deal with, so hopefully we'll be able to do something with them (via a trade)."

Tuesday, 26 November 2013

Geelong draftee Jarrad Jansen has set his sights on emulating the deeds of former Cats star Paul Chapman after being handed the three-time premiership player's old No. 35 guernsey.

"Certainly some big shoes to fill, but I think I'm up to it," he said.

"I consider myself to be pretty hard at it and team-oriented, so I'll go into this year and see if I can start filling his shoes.

"I was a bit overwhelmed just to be picked up to start with, but to be wearing No. 35 is a great honour."
