Adam Kingsley Biography

Thursday, 25 July 2024

Adam Kingsley will lead GWS until at least the end of 2028 after signing a new deal with the Giants.

"He has a great understanding of the game and a game plan built for success, and we are confident he can lead our program into an exciting future," Giants CEO David Matthews said of Kingsley.

"Adam has a great ability to teach, motivate and inspire the group and we see him as the ideal person to continue to coach our AFL side as we strive for the ultimate success."

Adam Kingsley has been rewarded for overseeing Greater Western Sydney's stunning transformation from bottom-four strugglers to preliminary finalists, claiming the 2023 Allan Jeans Senior Coach of the Year award.

"It's a tremendous honour to receive this award, particularly given it’s an award voted on by the other coaches. I'm grateful for the support I've received this season from the club and our players but also a whole new coaching group and I’m exceptionally proud of the way we've come together to build a whole new program," Kingsley said.

Greater Western Sydney expects Mark McVeigh to remain at the club despite the caretaker coach missing out on the senior role to Adam Kingsley.

"We couldn't be more grateful for the role he played this year as a caretaker. He entered the process and he's naturally disappointed but I think also pleased with the eventual outcome," Giants CEO David Matthews said.

"He spent some time with Adam this morning and our expectation is that there is a long-term future here for Mark McVeigh. He's got great values and the players love him, and I could really see him and Adam working really well together."

Newly appointed GWS coach Adam Kingsley says he will remain focused on Richmond’s finals campaign before tackling his new position at the Giants.

"The moment that season is finished I'll be looking to get stuck in (at the Giants)," he said.

"But the reality is I'll be doing everything I possibly can to prepare Richmond Football Club for the ultimate success and I'll be disciplined to do that."

Monday, 22 August 2022

Adam Kingsley is named senior coach of Greatern Western Sydney.

Kingsley has had a long run at being a senior coach having been an assistant at Port after his playing career before having eight seasons on St Kilda's coaching panel. He joined Richmond in 2019, where he was a key part of their premiership run.

"It's a privilege and an honour to be the next senior coach of the Giants. I've been clear in my aspirations to become a senior coach and over the last 16 years I've continued to learn and develop to the point now where I'm absolutely ready to take the next step in my coaching career," Kingsley said in a statement.

Tuesday, 5 October 2021

Adam Kingsley expresses his thoughts on why he missed out on the Collingwood and Carlton vacant coaching roles for 2022 and beyond.

"The reality is they had some really high-quality coaches available on the market and you kind of wonder whether or not processes are legitimate," Kingsley told SEN.

"There were some reservations, it's fair to say, but I was assured the process was legitimate and both processes were, from what I understand.

"The reality is I just missed out on them and got beaten by two better people at the moment. That's kind of sparked me into action."

Monday, 27 August 2018

Adam Kingsley leaves his role as an assistant coach at St Kilda to join Damien Hardwick's team at Richmond.

"With 12 years' coaching experience, Adam sees the game really well, is a strong communicator, and we feel that he'll connect really well with our coaches and players, and complement our coaching program," Richmond football boss Neil Balme said.
