After a trade to Collingwood during the 2022 trade period didn't eventuate, Brayden Fiorini says he's happy to stay at the Suns. "I started the year in the ones last year and played probably the first half and then found myself in and out of the side again. It's probably been a constant theme over the last few years for me being on the borderline a bit," he said. "It was more just a mature and respectful conversation with 'Dewy'. He's been pretty honest with me and likewise, it was more if there was more opportunity elsewhere to potentially guarantee me more of an opportunity then we should look at it. But we kept in contact throughout the trade period and it eventuated that I stayed and I was really happy with that as well."

Brayden Fiorini has earned the respect of his teammates off the field, now he wants to earn it on the field. Injuries have restricted Fiorini to 26 games in his first three seasons, but that didn't stop the Suns from electing him into their leadership group. "I'm still inexperienced and I want to get out on the field all 22 games this year hopefully, help the boys out there and prove my on-field leadership as well," Fiorini said. "I have been up and down with injuries but tried to get my body right through the pre-season and fingers crossed it stays like that. "Every main session I've completed. I've ticked that box and it gives me a lot of confidence."

Brayden Fiorini until round 22 to make his in 2016, and after a quiet game against Collingwood, gave a glimpse into his enormous ability with a stunning performance against Port Adelaide the following week. In a depleted Suns outfit that ended up losing by 23 points, Fiorini finished with 32 disposals, seven marks, kicked two goals and laid 12 tackles. But despite that showing, he's quite a way down the midfield pecking order for 2017. "We've got a lot of new mids coming in and it's just getting more competitive, so I can't rely on that last game to get me through," Fiorini said. "I've got to keep working hard on my game."

Brayden Fiorini faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines after suffering an unusual knee injury in the NEAFL at the weekend. Gold Coast head physiotherapist Adam Russell said the injury took place in a tackle during the second quarter of the Suns' NEAFL clash on Saturday. "He had an MRI scan yesterday which has shown that he’s got an unusual injury," Russell said. "He’s going down to see the surgeon tomorrow and is tentatively booked in for surgery on Thursday so we’ll probably know a bit more about his management after that."
