Riley Bonner Biography

Wednesday, 22 November 2023

St Kilda select Riley Bonner with pick No.3 in the 2023 Pre-Season Draft.

Thursday, 5 October 2023

After being delisted by Port Adelaide, Riley Bonner says he is hungry for another opportunity at AFL level.

"I can play multiple positions. Wing, half-back, [but] I think my best footy's off half-back," Bonner said.

"I think I could help some teams if that's what they're looking for – a running half-back.

"I've got that hunger and drive to still be able to play, and I'm still pretty young, so should be getting into my prime."

Wednesday, 5 October 2022

Riley Bonner's management confirms Port Adelaide's interest in trading the defender this off-season, as the Power look to free up a number of list spots for potential acquisitions.

"(They're) not exactly pushing him out, but I think they need maybe some list spots for what they're trying to do. Look, with where Riley sits, he's played a lot of footy at half-back," Bonner's agent, David Trotter said.

Monday, 27 June 2022

Riley Bonner will require surgery after fracturing his cheekbone and eye socket in Port Adelaide's win over Gold Coast following a clash of heads with Sun Izak Rankine.

Friday, 11 January 2019

Power half-back Riley Bonner is open to moving to the wing to accommodate the inclusion of Hawthorn recruit Ryan Burton and the return of the experienced Hamish Hartlett from a knee injury.

"Either half-back or wing, wherever that may be, I'm happy to go anywhere," Bonner said.

"I've played a lot of my junior footy either on the wing or half-back, so wherever the team needs me to play, I'm happy to play there."

Monday, 26 March 2018

Riley Bonner earns the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination for round 1 of 2018 after tallying 31 disposals, including 21 kicks, 4 inside 50s and 2 clearances in the Power's 50-point win over Fremantle.

Bonner's breakout game comes after managing only 4 games in two seasons at the Power.

"It was tough (being patient), but I realised I'd just been drafted to a pretty strong side," he said.

"I knew they had a strong defensive back seven and that it would be tough to get a game, and I knew I had a few deficiencies I had to work on."

Wednesday, 12 July 2017

Riley Bonner signs a new two-year deal with Port Adelaide that will keep him at the club until the end of 2019.

"Riley has shown in his first two years that he has the work ethic to get the best out of himself," defensive coach Nathan Bassett said.

"He has good speed and agility while showing that he can be a very good user of the football.

"I believe that Riley has considerable upside and that his best football will come in the not too distant future."

Saturday, 27 August 2016

Riley Bonner makes his AFL debut for Port Adelaide with 22 disposals (17 kicks and 5 handballs), 4 marks and 2 tackles in a 23-point win over Gold Coast.

Wednesday, 25 November 2015

Port Adelaide select Riley Bonner with pick No.37 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.

"A long penetrating left-foot kick, (he) runs off half back, he's got good speed and endurance. He was All Australian at the under-18 national carnival … he's done a little bit of athletics so he fits in with how Ken [Hinkley] wants to play," Power recruiting boss Geoff Parker said.
