Bailey Williams will miss a month after suffering a crack in his collarbone against Gold Coast.

Bailey Williams signs a two-year deal with the Bulldogs to remain at the club until the end of 2021.

"Bailey is a versatile player who has a strong game sense and intercepts the ball well," Bulldogs list manager Sam Power said.

"He's shown across his career that he can play multiple roles, including down back and through the midfield."

Bailey Williams is set to spend up to six weeks on the sidelines after scans revealed an area of low-grade bone stress in the metatarsal bone of his foot.

Bailey Williams has overtaken Easton Wood as the best rebounding defender at the Bulldogs, sitting equal 11th in the AFL for intercept marks (21) and 12th overall for intercept possessions (64).

"(Bailey) is a bit shy and doesn't like talking about himself," Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge said.

"He's starting to get some plaudits, and that's good him and it's good for us.

"When he can (intercept) it allows us to have a bit more flexibility with our other high defenders."

Bailey Williams signs a two-year contract extension with the Bulldogs, keeping him at Whitten Oval at least until the end of 2019.

"Bailey has shown some really promising signs since he came to the club in 2015," Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said.

"His poise and decision-making are of a high quality, and we're looking forward to watching him continue to develop into a quality player for the football club."

Bailey Williams makes his AFL debut for the Western Bulldogs at the MCG with 14 disposals (7 kicks and 7 handballs), 2 marks and 4 tackles in a 32-point win over Melbourne.

The Western Bulldogs select Bailey Williams with pick No.48 in the 2015 NAB AFL Draft.

"He's a midfielder/half back from Glenelg, a good decision maker, a late developer and he's really grown in height during the year and his performances have improved," Bulldogs recruitment manager Simon Dalrymple said.
