Jack Scrimshaw Biography

Tuesday, 8 February 2022

Jack Scrimshaw signs a new two-year deal to remain at Hawthorn until the end of 2024.

"I absolutely love the club. Ever since I got here, the club has been more than welcoming and I've developed some really strong relationships. I'm really looking forward to seeing what the next few years holds and seeing if we can make finals," he said.

Monday, 19 November 2018

Hawthorn recruit Jack Scrimshaw had an early chance for his new football reality to sink in when he dined at a Greek restaurant recently with legendary coach Alastair Clarkson.

The former Gold Coast defender's father, David, and Clarkson's family were also there for the get-together as the Hawks begin Operation Rebuild a top-10 pick.

"That was a bit surreal – I think dad was a bit excited as well about that, being a Hawthorn supporter," Scrimshaw said about the dinner.

"Dad probably stole the spotlight a lot; just asking about footy and stuff like that. Clarko's got a really great family, so they were able to host us really well."

Jack Scrimshaw's father David hopes his son's move to the Hawks will kick start his career.

"Jack has barracked for the Hawks all his life," David wrote in a social media post.

"In just the first meeting with Clarko it has had a tremendous impact on him. He is really up and about! Fingers crossed if he can do a full pre-season, the Hawks fans will be delighted with him I’m sure."

Tuesday, 16 October 2018

Jack Scrimshaw is traded by Gold Coast to Hawthorn in exchange for a future third and fourth round selection.

Scrimshaw, who was recruited at No.7 in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft, has played only four games in his career, with none coming in 2018.

"I just had a few battles happening off-field and they've sort of affected my performance a little bit," Scrimshaw said.

"I just felt like if I was around my family and friends, it would make it a little bit easier.

"When I was 18, moving interstate, it was pretty hard, so I had a few things to deal with. That was probably the main thing."

Saturday, 22 July 2017

Jack Scrimshaw makes his AFL debut for Gold Coast with 11 disposals (7 kicks and 4 handballs), 5 marks and a tackle in a 54-point loss to the Western Bulldogs.

Friday, 17 March 2017

In an unprecedented move, Gold Coast has locked away its four top-10 picks from last year's NAB AFL Draft until the end of 2020.

Ben Ainsworth (number four selection), Will Brodie (seven), Jack Scrimshaw (nine) and Jack Bowes (10) each added two years to their initial deal in a coup for the club.

"From the moment we were drafted, the club and the players have been sensational, so it’s no surprise we all have jumped at the chance to extend our contracts to four years," Ainsworth said.

"The four of us have a close bond and we are rapt to make this statement together. We simply don’t want to be anywhere else. The Gold Coast is home."

Friday, 25 November 2016

Gold Coast select Jack Scrimshaw with pick No.7 in the 2016 National Draft.

"His upside’s unbelievably huge. He’s had injuries for a couple of years with some stress fractures and some other things he’s got on top of," Gold Coast list manager Scott Clayton said.

"So in regards to how much work he’s done over the last couple of years, Sandringham was telling us that they’ve had him for about eight weeks in total for the last two years.

"His finals series for Sandringham winning the premiership, absolutely outstanding footy. He’s tough and competitive on the field, he’s versatile, can play in most zones on the ground."
