After missing out on being part of the Bulldogs' premiership-winning side in 2016, Patrick Lipinski becomes a premiership player for the Magpies as their sub in the 2023 Grand Final. "Once I was the sub, I just had to accept that it was my role. I was going to be the best sub I could be. I think I took my opportunity and was part of the team and played well. I'm a premiership player, it's crazy," he said.

Pat Lipinski has settled in the Magpies' side after overcoming a second shoulder reconstruction. "I was obviously incredibly flat that I did my shoulder again. I had a few weeks where I was pretty flat. Watching round one and the boys against Geelong, I was almost in tears watching because I'd just done all this rehab and pre-season," Lipinski told AFL.com.au. "It was disappointing, but it was better it happened at the start of the year, rather than now. At least I can play at the good part of the season. I knew straight away that I could get back by the bye, so I had at least 10 games to get back for. I did my rehab really well and was able to get back before the bye. That was a nice little win and now I'm starting to build into the season."

Patrick Lipinski reveals why he left the Western Bulldogs for a fresh start at Collingwood. "I just felt it was the right time to take my career into my own hands and try something new," he said. "It was pretty clear that the midfield group at the Dogs is probably the best in the League. It's very deep in there. I got to play in the midfield in the VFL and played pretty well and obviously wasn't getting a game."

Patrick Lipinski is on the move to Collingwood after being traded by the Western Bulldogs for pick 43. The Bulldogs were disappointed Lipinski wanted to leave, saying the club's preference was to keep him after it tabled a three-year contract extension earlier in the season "as a show of faith in the talented 23-year-old". "To evolve and build on the foundations of my game, though, I know moving to Collingwood is the right thing. It's the right fit. There is something of a new beginning taking place at the Pies, with a relatively young list and new coaching staff. I'm keen to share in that," Lipinski said.

Out-of-contract Patrick Lipinski is heavily linked to Collingwood despite having a three-year offer to remain at the Bulldogs where he has been unable to land a permanent spot in the Bulldogs' star-studded midfield.

After a breakout 2019 season in which he averaged almost 22 disposals per game, Pat Lipinski says he wants to add a more explosive dimension to his outside game. "I want to get the ball and explode. I'm adding more power in my game and in my midfield craft," he said. "Often I'd get the ball and flick it off quickly, which was still the right decision to make sometimes, but adding that power and strength to my game will help as I play more inside midfield."

Patrick Lipinski believes he is in the best patch of form of his career, averaging 23.5 disposals for the Bulldogs in 6 games thus far in 2019. Lipinski didn't get a recall to the Dogs' senior side until round 10 of the season, having been made to earn his place via the VFL. "I felt ready the whole time. I was playing decent footy in the VFL and a few times I was a bit disappointed I wasn't put in [to the AFL team], but in the long run it helped me really improve," he said. "I'm happy I can see I've had clear improvement from last year, which I thought I had, but as I was playing in the VFL it's hard to know whether you've gone backwards. "But it did feel like I'd improved a lot over the pre-season so seeing the results come out now have been pretty good."

Patrick Lipinski signs a two-year contract extension with the Western Bulldogs to remain at the club until the end of 2021. "It was great to see him exposed to regular AFL football last year, and we are confident he can build on his efforts again this year," Bulldogs list manager Sam Power said of Lipinski. "Pat is an exciting young player who offers plenty of versatility. He has shown he can play as a forward or on the wing, he uses the ball well by foot and has a strong running capacity."

Bulldogs draftee Patrick Lipinski is pinching himself after realising two life-long ambitions in the space of two months. The 18-year-old grew up in Melbourne's eastern suburbs dreaming of a Western Bulldogs flag and becoming an AFL player, and he can now proudly say he's achieved both. "I was just so ecstatic, I just couldn't believe (I was selected by the Bulldogs) to be honest," Lipinski said. "I didn't have many expectations going into the draft, I was just hoping to get picked up. "It was amazing (Grand Final day) because when I was younger I wasn't sure I'd ever see a (premiership). "It's a dream come true."

The Western Bulldogs select Patrick Lipinski with pick No.28 in the 2016 National Draft. "A former basketballer who is a fantastic young man and plays as a mid forward," Bulldogs recruiting manager Simon Dalrymple said. "He's actually coached by Marcus Bontempelli's uncle, so there's a connection there, and he's got a great attitude."
