Jack Maibaum Biography

Jack Maibaum is cut from the Sydney's list but has been given the opportunity to train with the club before next month's drafts in the possibility of a new rookie contract.

The 21-year-old failed to debut in his three seasons on the Swans' list and suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2019.

Sydney is set to make an 11th-hour bid to fill its final list spot on Friday, flying two state league players to the Harbour City for medical screenings.

Just seven days out from the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) deadline, South Adelaide's Hayden McLean and former Magpie Sam McLarty will jet into Sydney.

With confirmation third-year key defender Jack Maibaum is to be placed on the long-term injury list after rupturing his ACL, the Swans have the ability to replace him prior to March 15.

Jack Maibaum is expected to be out for the season after injuring his ACL last week during training.

"Jack had been training really well over summer and was well primed for the season ahead, so clearly this is bitterly disappointing for Jack and for the team," Sydney head of football Charlie Gardiner said.

James Rose and Jack Maibaum re-sign with Sydney to remain at the club in 2019.

"Both James and Jack have been consistent performers in the NEAFL for a long time and are knocking on the door of senior selection," Sydney football manager Tom Harley said.

"It'll be good to see the pair put in another solid pre-season and continue to push for more senior opportunities next season."
