Carlton makes the first significant changes to its list ahead of what looms as an important off-season for the club by delisting five players.

Experienced ruckman Matthew Lobbe and forward Jarrod Garlett lead the list of players to depart the club, with youngsters Pat Kerr, Angus Schumacher and Kym LeBois also delisted.

Patrick Kerr signs a one-year contract extension with Carlton to remain at the club until the end of 2019.

"Running out for my first senior game was a dream come true and now it's about building continuity in my game," Kerr said.

"Being at Carlton is an environment I want to be part of for the long-term, so I'm looking forward to seeing where the group can go under'Bolts' and the coaching panel."

Patrick Kerr knows there will be pressure to live up to his family name at Carlton, but is confident he can do so.

Kerr is the grandson of the late Laurie Kerr, one of the Blues' best players in the 1950s.

"I feel like I do (have a lot to live up to), but I feel like I'm [level-headed] enough to understand how to cope with it and there are enough people at the club to help you cope with it," Kerr said.

"The environment we're in now, we're all very fortunate and I don't think there would be another club that I'd rather be at.

"To come to a club that you've followed for your whole life, with a family tie to the club, is an unbelievable feeling and it hasn't sunk in yet."

"A tall forward, who is a really strong mark and a nice kick," Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni said.

"He is the grandson to Laurie and Vivian Kerr, so it is a great night for the Kerr family, I'm really happy for them."
