St Kilda delist untried ruckman Sam Alabakis and third-year defender Oscar Clavarino.

"Both Oscar and Sam are both well-liked players who have really grown and developed during their time with the club," St Kilda's list boss James Gallagher said.

Oscar Clavarino makes his AFL debut for St Kilda at Docklands Stadium with 7 disposals (4 kicks and 3 handballs), 3 marks and a tackle in a 20-point win over North Melbourne.

Oscar Clavarino signs a one-year extensions with St Kilda to remain at the club until the end of 2020.

"Oscar is coming along nicely, but as a bigger-bodied defender, will take a bit more time," St Kilda general manager of football Simon Lethlean said.

"He’s got a good head on his shoulders and I have no doubt that with another pre-season under his belt he’ll be banging the door down for his debut next season."

Standing at 195cm, Oscar Clavarino will be one of the most sought-after key defensive prospects in November's NAB AFL Draft, with his form this season drawing comparisons with Crow Jake Lever's output at the same age.

"I like to think that Jake is someone that is similar to the way I play, because the forward also has a role to stop him being damaging," Clavarino said.

"It's been good come up against the best forwards, and that's when I play some of my best footy.

"Hopefully I can develop, put on some size and become that player that takes the opposition's best key forward at AFL level."
