Adam Cerra explains the reasons he chose Carlton as his club of choice when leaving Fremantle. "They were really young and stacked with talent. Some of the players who are coming back from injury now, that weren't even playing much last year, they just add to the group and its depth," Cerra said. "Hearing about the group and the boys, they seemed really motivated. With all of the changes, to be able to join Carlton now, you feel like you're a part of it and building it from the ground up."

Carlton officially secures the services of Adam Cerra, with Fremantle receiving Carlton's pick No.6 and a future third-round selection. "With Adam, we're welcoming a real classy on-baller whose best football is still to come. He?s rarely missed a game at senior level since stepping into the AFL environment as an 18-year-old. He knows where to run to get the footy and when he gets it, good things happen," Blues list manager Nick Austin said. "We were really keen to bring him to our football club for everything he brings to the table. He sees the game really well, he's a student of the game and he has a real drive within himself to continue to get better."

I'll probably try to get into his ear and try to get him to stay."

Injuries are the only reason draft prospect Adam Cerra isn't in the conversation to be this year's No.1 pick, says Essendon great Darren Bewick. In eight seasons as coach of the TAC Cup side Eastern Ranges, Bewick rates the classy midfielder the equal of any player he's mentored. "Adam just has a great understanding of the game and his skills are at a high level," Bewick said. "He can play inside and out, he can play half-back, and I put him forward one day and he kicked 3.5 in a half. "He's a (future) 200-game player that's ready to play AFL football now."
