"Tim's worked hard in the VFL to return from the injury that cut his 2018 season short, while Jack and Rupert were able to come in and play their role for the team late in the season," Collingwood list manager Ned Guy said in a statement.

"We're hoping that another 12 months will give them the opportunity to have an even greater impact."

Jack Madgen makes his AFL debut for Collingwood at the SCG with 13 disposals (5 kicks and 8 handballs), a mark and 2 tackles in a 2-point loss to Sydney.

Madgen is a defender who grew up playing football in South Australia, but turned his full attention to basketball at the age of 18.

He spent four years playing as a point guard for US college Delta State University, in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Madgen comes from a strong basketball background, with sister Tess representing Australia and brother Ben a former captain of the Sydney Kings in the NBL.

"I was probably better at footy, but basketball was a passion. I really wanted to go to college and get an education and university degree," Madgen said.
