Already contracted until the end of 2026, Max King signs a long-term six-year contract extension to remain at St Kilda until the end of 2032. "I'm pumped to be here for a few more years, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else," King said in a statement. "I love playing for this club - I love the coaches, I love the boys, and I have a lot of faith in the direction we’re going. "I really appreciate the club showing faith in me and I’m conscious it’s a long-term deal - all I want to do is repay that faith through action."

Gold Coast's Ben King says twin brother, Max King, is his greatest aid in tackling the League's best backs. "Most key defenders in the League I've matched up on and prepared for and watched vision on, so when it comes around this year I'm more confident I know the player they are," King said. "Having Max playing footy as well is massive for me in that when he plays on a bloke he'll tell me what he was like. I watch Max's vision against someone and see how Max exposed him, and how he got hold of Max, and that helps me enormously as well."

St Kilda football chief Simon Lethlean reveals that the club has spoken to Sun Ben King's management, canvassing the possibility of reuniting him with his brother, Max King at the Saints. "Ben is playing at Gold Coast next year, and if he doesn't sign and looks to move next year we'll talk to him," Lethlean said. "I think anyone who was going to draft Max would like Ben to join him at some stage because they're both elite talent, hard-to-find players of that ilk. So if he wants to join Max and we can get that done at some stage that'd be terrific. "We drafted Max for Max, but it's obviously a romantic thought to have twins playing together. It happens occasionally – if it happens for the Saints it'd be unbelievable."

Max King is taking a patient approach as he continues his recovery from a knee reconstruction, with the key forward targeting a return to the field before mid-season. "I'd like to play as early as I can, but they'll probably hold me back a little bit just to make sure it's 110 per cent right. I guess towards the middle of the year, or maybe a bit before that, but we're not really putting a timeframe on it," King said. "I've tried not to put a specific date on it. I just want to do everything right, and get out there as soon as I can."

Max King inherits the number made famous by his idol, Saints great Nick Riewoldt. To add to the surreal nature of the experience for the promising 204cm forward, Riewoldt returned from an extended stay with his in-laws in Texas to present his old No.12 guernsey to King in person. "I've literally dreamt about this moment for as long as I can remember," King said. "To be picked up by the Saints a few weeks ago was incredible, but to be given the jumper by Nick himself is just unimaginable. "If I can have half the career he had I'll be happy. I hope I can do Nick, the club and the supporters proud."

Likely top-five draft pick Max King says if he is drafted interstate he would prefer to head to a club with twin brother Ben King. "That's just a part of the draft that you could go interstate so whatever happens, happens," Max said. "I guess if I was to go interstate I'd like to go with Ben, that'd be pretty good, but after the trade period all the picks will be shuffled around so it's hard to tell."
