Marty Hore Biography

Marty Hore is a Melbourne player again after two years away from the club, having re-signed with the Demons as a rookie via the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).

"Marty has had a really strong two years in the VFL; firstly for North Melbourne and then most recently with Williamstown. We have kept a close eye on what he’s been able to produce and believe he has a lot to offer our program," Melbourne list manager Tim Lamb said.

“Marty is thoroughly deserving of this opportunity, and we look forward to having him part of the red and blue once again.”

Marty Hore is set to secure a second chance at Melbourne when the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) opens at the end of this month.

The 27-year-old played 14 games for the Demons – all in his debut season in 2019 – across a three-year stint at the club before being delisted at the end of 2021 after he missed that season due to a knee reconstruction.

Marty Hore will miss the entire season after rupturing his ACL at training.

Hore was floored after a crunching tackle deep in defence at Casey Fields and was helped off the oval with the assistance of trainers.

Marty Hore makes his AFL debut for Melbourne at the MCG with 14 disposals (7 kicks and 7 handballs), 2 marks and a tackle in a 26-point loss to Port Adelaide.

Marty Hore is back at full training after completing his rehabilitation from ankle surgery.

"I did plenty of rehab so the ankle feels 100 per cent now," Hore said.

"I'm really happy with how it's gone. It's troubled me a little bit over the last few years, so getting that right should free it up a fair bit."

Melbourne mature-age recruit Marty Hore could not bring himself to watch the NAB AFL Draft last Friday, with the disappointment of missing out on being selected in previous years still fresh on his mind.

"I was working because we've got a bit going on at the farm at the moment and Dad rang and said you better come inside, Melbourne's just picked you," he said.

"I got on the motorbike and raced inside and I was just over the moon. I couldn't get home quick enough. I couldn't believe it to be honest."

Melbourne select Marty Hore with pick No.56 in the 2018 National Draft.

“It’s a dream come true, I’m over the moon and I can’t wait to meet all of the boys,” Hore said.

“I always thought I just need to keep chipping away and keep improving each year and I think I did that.”
