Lachie Schultz says he feels more comfortable with his role at the Magpies after a 2024 season that failed to live up to his expectations.

"Going into this year, I felt like I was a new person and I felt like I was a new player again. Except this time, I had all of the relationships inside the club and I knew all of the structures and the roles and everything," he said.

"It's not always going to be as nice as it is at the moment, but that's the role of a small forward. You've got to just keep turning up. I feel like I've just got to keep putting my best foot forward, because I can only control what I can control."

Fremantle picks up a second-round pick and Collingwood's future first in a trade for Lachie Schultz who is now a Magpie.

"I'd like to thank Fremantle for my time at the club and for coming to an arrangement with Collingwood," Schultz said.

"The Dockers gave me my first football opportunity, and I will be forever grateful for my time there. I would not be the player I am today without the support of the football staff and players.

"Family is important to me and is one of the reasons I have decided to make the move back to Victoria."

Lachie Schultz shocks Fremantle with an unexpected trade request to Collingwood.

Schultz, who hit a contract trigger for 2024 earlier this season, is an unrestricted free agent at the end of next year given he has previously been cut and re-listed as a rookie by the Dockers.

Despite his request, Fremantle has the ability to hold the 25-year-old to the final year of his deal in 2024.

Fremantle delists Bailey Banfield, Brett Bewley and Lachie Schultz but commits to re-drafting them in the upcoming rookie draft.

"There is a process we have to go through and we look forward to welcoming Lachie, Brett and Bailey back onto our playing squad for 2021," Fremantle football boss Peter Bell said.
