St Kilda delist untried ruckman Sam Alabakis and third-year defender Oscar Clavarino.

"Both Oscar and Sam are both well-liked players who have really grown and developed during their time with the club," St Kilda's list boss James Gallagher said.

"We thank them for their dedication to the Saints and wish them all the best for the next chapter in their lives."

St Kilda Category B rookie Sam Alabakis will play VFL at Frankston this year, rather than with the Saints' affiliate Sandringham.

The thinking behind the move is it will allow the 211cm ruckman to play in his ideal position, rather than be stuck behind whoever of Billy Longer or Lewis Pierce takes the mantle at the Zebras.

US College basketball giant Sam Alabakis joins St Kilda as a Category B rookie.

At 211cm, the 21-year-old will equal Fremantle stalwart Aaron Sandilands and Collingwood big-man Mason Cox as the tallest player on an AFL list ever.

"I couldn't be happier to be joining St Kilda," the former Hale School student said.

"I never thought I'd get the chance to play AFL, but the club has been really encouraging and welcoming, and I can't wait to get started and repay the faith they've shown in me."
