Charlie McKay, the son of Andrew McKay, has emerged as a father-son draft option for Carlton.
McKay trained with the Blues over summer and is on the club's radar, particularly after his improvement in recent months.
"From November until now the penny dropped for him, and he did some time at Carlton as part of its father-son Academy," Sandringham Dragons talent manager Mark Wheeler said.
"He's definitely going to be a starting inside midfielder, nobody can tackle him. He can play forward too, but I think he's probably better as a defender. He can play that role better and as a third defender or lock-down backman."
