Matt Allison will require surgery on a stress fracture in his left foot, ruling him out for up to five months.

"Matt had really been impressing on the track, so for this to happen is very disappointing," St Kilda performance, medical and operations manager David Misson said.

"Following consultations with specialists we elected to send Matt in for surgery to have the foot stabilised."

Matthew Allison signs a new deal to remain with St Kilda until the end of 2024.

“While we’re yet to see Matty [Allison] at senior level, we want to provide a platform for him to continue to improve in our environment, and ultimately become an important player for us in the future,” St Kilda list boss James Gallagher said.
