Tom Cochrane will make history by becoming the first player with Tourette's syndrome to play in the AFL when he makes his debut for Port Adelaide against Essendon this week.

"I just want people to know that although it might be annoying sometimes, those who have it can't help it. They're still a person, you have to treat them as a normal person and if they let a tic out, it doesn't matter. Let them be," Cochrane said.
