Graham Wright joins the Blues as their next chief executive officer.

"We have appointed the best football person in the country to lead our football club," Blues president Luke Sayers said.

"Graham's proven ability to take a football club from good to great is unmatched and will be an invaluable asset as this club looks to evolve to the level required to contend for premierships in the coming years."

Collingwood football boss Graham Wright will take a sabbatical during the Magpies' 2024 premiership defence before returning in September.

"Having extended leave and spending some time travelling overseas during our winter has been on the cards for me for a few years and now is the right time for my wife and I to do that," Wright said.

"It has been a great few seasons at Collingwood so far and to reach the ultimate success with our men's program this year is a real credit to everyone involved at our club."

Graham Wright has been named the new head of football at Hawthorn as part of changes to the senior management structure at the club.

"Graham has been an influential member of Hawthorn's football department for some time," Hawthorn chief executive Justin Reeves said.

"This is an opportunity for Graham to progress his career at Hawthorn, but equally an exciting time for the club to be able to appoint someone with Graham's knowledge."
